FE's! Why are they illegal?

'JUST TELL A MAN HE IS GOING TO LOSE HIS FREEDOM AND HE WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL'

Old Hopper died a few weeks ago and a friend sent me a copy of Easy Rider. I saw it when it was first released. 2 guys went out looking for America and couldn't find it.

I went for a ride last weekend, in travelling mode, saddlebags, sleeping bag and Drizabone rolled up on the back. I like my Fazer, it is the ultimate freedom machine for me. The yammy slogan is 'Get done what you must, then do what you can.' Maybe a far cry from Easy Rider but in 2010, the bike really suits what I do.

Coming up behind a bunch of SUV's on the highway, I have the power to pass them all while they are locked in their Great Australian Dream.
Sure I have to wear a helmet, if allowed, from time to time I would not wear it, especially on a nice country road on a moonlit night.

I am a lawyer and believe in justice in this land. My ancestors laid down their lives for it, and I like our flag and Queens Birthday holiday. To keep the cops off my back on my touring holiday I have the rear fender, standard pipes etc. They still look at me, our bikes look hot standard.

I don't want them ruining my cruise so I stay legal and blend in as best I can. But, deep down..............
THERE IS A BIT OF CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BILLY IN ME.

Rumps 2 cents

Well said Rumps  I see nothing wrong with what you said , we all have that rebellious side to us thats why we ride :D... I just cant live with out a LOUD pipe though :D but for the most part i just love my bike the way it is .. I even had a motor bike copper tell me he would prefer my bike over thier BMW's & FJR's ;)

LOL! Yeah that completely legal OEM rear fender of your'swork's real well at stopping your bike from throwing up rocks...could'nt get within 30 metres of you on the weekend, without getting plastered by pebbles, and stuff....

the rear fender stops rocks areguement has no substance whatsoever!

The rear fender does SFA but , i will say i miss the rear hugger of the FZ6 when its starts raining...... Only need to sneeze on the road without one & i get drowned :(

Yes, the FZ6 rear hugger does a good job, of keeping water at bay, which i have found out with the black bike...having cut the hugger on that bike down, it now chucks water straight up under the seat, and into the little box under the riders seat...does not do this on the other bike, with the OEM rear hugger...

Way to bring back a dead thread Batman! Well if you picked up the latest copy of Rapid it shows you how to install a FE .... Nothing about the legals in there either, surely they must know the police don't like them.

Had a great few day trip away on the bikes, and saw a few police cars on the way back, including quite a few police bikes.
Cruising along about 6-8 over I didn't have any issues.
If it was like that all the time world peace would spring out of the woodwork imo!

This aside with the amount of crud and gravel on the roads we travelled you would need to be trailing a 2x2m bullet proof glass pane to stop all the **** being thrown up behind you.
Our roads are just shockingly bad, particularly all the areas where they just dump that really light gravel onto tar and hope it gets run into the road before someone dies on it. The amount of sweeping corners with such gravel directly in the path of a cornering motorcycle was just astounding.
