New rant if I may! (I didn't know where to start reading from on this thread!)

So the rain has started here in Sydney this arvo. This morning the traffic was fine. On the way home? All the Sunday drivers were out. Let's all sit 25km/hr below the speed limit and leave 17x the gap between the next car. Oh and if the bus in the next lane hits the brakes, let's all do the same just in case. Urgh. I'm on a motorbike so should feel the most vulnerable in the wet, yet the cagers seem the most anxious when a little water hits their windscreen. I took me about 1.5x the time to get home when it shouldn't have been any different.

What's the story? Isn't public transport any good in the wet? Seems like everyone jumps in the car.

Lol! Nice rant! Your right! I think that a lot of people are "allergic" to rain, or they must think it has some evil quality, like it's made of acid or something, and if they get wet, the world might just end!

I have always noticed how much worse traffic is when it is wet! Lots more Cars on the road!

Sadly, i am becoming one of these people...it looks wet, i take the car instead of the bike!!!

But my reasoning is different! For example i have just spent the last 3 days, with my bike in pieces.....as i have had the back wheel out to hand polish, the exhaust system off...to hand polish! the rear hugger out...to give a freshening up coat of paint....the underseat plastic tray out, also given a coat of paint to freshen it up...replaced all bolts in rear half of bike with new stainless bolts, and nuts, etc, etc....

if you think i am going to go ride my bike in the rain after all that....

But back to your point, your right about the way they drive too...like a bunch of 80 year old's who have lost their driving Mojo!!!!

But my favourite driver right now is the one that sits in a massive traffic snail, that is moving at about 100 metres every 5 minutes, and gets cranky with you and honks their horn, when you dont immediately move the 10 feet forward the car in front of you has just shuffled up the road in front of you, as soon as they do....i am like, "are you serious?, what do you think honking your horn is going to achieve in that situation???

Adding onto that, I always do 40 in a school zone, but the cars that speed through - always mums with kids in the car or cars turning into the school - ?......

Agree 100%. I'm amazed at the number of people who speed past in a school zone. There's flashing lights everywhere nowadays, how do you miss it!? And yes it infuriates me when it's a driver with kids in the car.

Yet the school zones are the one place I've never ever seen a police presence.

Nope, you never see a cop in a school zone, but there are always plenty of parking inspectors around at my sons school....pinging all the desperate parents grabbing parking spots anywhere remotely suitable to park whilst getting the dirt magnets!

Yea it always amazes me when I get flashed and beeped in the school zone near my house by the cagers doing 60km/h!
Flashing lights, signs everywhere, and now the new triangles on the road indicating where the zones start and finish, its not hard!

And like you all said, there is never and I mean NEVER a cop in sight (the cop shop is less than 1km away) but the parking police are there to bust the parents if they are 10s over the time limit, and yet they won't book people parked over driveways or double parked.....

We actually do get cops in the school zone in Bullsbrook, now and again. More often though they are on the highway waiting to get us doing 105 in a 100 zone.. :shakehead:

Funny thing around here - the cops do a lot of training in Chittering. Sometimes, you drive up Chittering Rd, at the top of the hill there is a parking area - there can be up to 30 cop cars there! You just about **** yourself.... LOL, but they are all there talking - not checking motorists,

Like someone else mentioned either in this thread or another, a bikes performance kind of changes its ability to overtake compared to most other vehicles.
That being said I generally don't overtake across double lines, and sometimes I don't even consider the spaces with broken lines big enough or with enough vision to make an attempt anyway!

What seems suss to me is the fact they are getting a speeding reading at such a long distance, on such a tiny figure, at what certainly wouldn't be a good angle, right next to a normal vehicle.
I mean I'm no expert in how these things work, but I know they need a large area to bounce off, which is generally a car windsheild.
They also seem to be moving rather slow, so it seems like a setup to make a video.

That video is fake , you can hear the supposed beeping even though the beam is being broken by the trees..... And there is no way know that the 2nd guy is going faster than the 1st guy

am so! But at least I will have the most pristine high mileage fz6 around at the end of it all!

Hey I bought one of those rego sticker roll up thingo's today...apart from the fact it was about 40mm too long....gotta love the dremel! This thingo is ok...rego sticker now neatly tucked up under the rear subframe...still visible...just! But perfectly legal, and no where near as ugly as in one of those silly flat plastic thingo's they give you at motor reg!
