Didn't sound like sarcasm to me, which should have been obvious from my post, particularly the second last paragraph.

Its far from the first time I've heard this viewpoint, infact I have alot of friends who basically think exactly this way purely because I ride instead of drive. Its also exactly what stopped the newer requirements to make it harder for elderly people to keep their licenses.

You'll have to excuse my little outburst, but I was suprised anyone on a motorcycle forum would have such a viewpoint. My point stands however, even if it doesn't apply to you.

You aint gonna find that way of thinking in here dude....we are all united by the fact, that we have to deal with such ignorance on a daily basis....i cop crap everytime i turn up to work in bike gear...comments like.. "oh you rode your bike to work....and you didnt have an accident!", or, "you ride a bike, how is it being a temporary citizen", etc, etc...

A lot of it is jealousy, most of it is plain ignorance, but as for in here, i think ALL of us, have had stupid stuff happen to them, from ignorant, or careless road users, who have no idea of the consequences of a an accident involving another vehicle, for a bike rider.....and i reckon for most of us, it would be on a daily basis, that dangerous situations cauesd by ignorance, carelessness, happen...

It's part of riding a bike, you just have to suck it up, accept it, and ride accordingly....

And when one of the ignorant, or careless types gets you....just hope that it's not a biggy!!!

But no matter what WE do, it aint gonna stop..people are just stupid by nature! or worse, stupid & selfish!

Now i am off to let the tyres down on the old guys car down the street! Lol!

I think it must be meeting so many americans online wearing off on me! They can never tell I'm being sarcastic and now I'm doing it too.
But yea I haven't recently, but have in the past gotten into some heated arguements with people, and I tend to get riled up a bit too easily I guess I take things too personally when it comes to motorcycling (among other things) I should probably know to look for sarcasm before insult on this forum though!
Plus I seem to be in a constantly foul mood lately, I think its because I'm only getting to ride to work/tafe each day and its short horrible rides with all the cagers on a mission to see how slow they can go without stalling, or playing "who can run over the motorcyclist first", that and its often all school zones so its me doing 40, and everyone else zooming past half the time.

I will say this, trying not to sound like a wanker....but as you get older, you do learn to walk away from what could potentially be a heated arguement or worse...on most occasions...

Hey this is australia sarcasim is first and formost, or at least from me it is as most already know, before going off you might want to just do a post stateing (are you serious) before you upset yourself, no one needs extra stress especially when not needed, we will all tell you if we are being serious or not. As wolf said we are all in the same boat with how we feel and all have great compassion for other riders.

Ok, more or a "miserable" post than a rant.

Mike has done his back in - pulled muscle. He never has time off work (even though he's a partner) but has so far had Mon/Tues off. He was in a bad way on Monday - could hardly walk around, so I said I'd stay at home to drive him to doctors/x-rays etc. I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home when I want.

I went to work, picked up some plans and my work lap-top - then promptly fell down the stairs . Only about 6 steps, but I'm bloody sore! Stuffed my wrist up - which always plays up - ankle, knee, hip, left arm and right shoulder. Worse thing is the bruising still hasn't come out - very sore.

Yeah, great start to the week. House smells of "deep heat". We're a fine pair

Kris- Let it all out, it's OK, everyone here is adult enough and support each other. Love your passion, it is also my bane at times. But I am American, want to start something? (SARCASM) (-;

Stink-I have felt your frustration, was an assistant foreman at a lumber mill at 19 and had to tell people age 18-64 what to do, they didn't always take me serious even though their life was sometimes in my hands. I look young for my age also, I am now 38 and looking back I am more proud of what I can do rather than being upset at the people who thought I couldn't. Only thing is, at 38 people rely on me and some think I can do things that really challenge me, careful what you ask for.

Spook- Your avatar gives me the creeps, love it. Glad your Ok, an 87 year old lady ran a red light and hit my friend, took him through the intersection, pinned him to a pole, started her car back up and took off, got caught, but what are you gonna do to someone that old, take away their birthday? I know it is not always a Male/Female, Old/Young thing, but man it's hard to remember sometimes.

Oh yeah, this is a rant, not summer camp bonfire.

Those darn traffic cams that dispense tickets like PEZ dispensers, would love to.........

People who drive in the passing lane, when I grew up it was for passing, not cruising at 55 mph.

People who come to my country and collect Social Security who never paid a dime into it. Or get a picture driving test and an interperator that gives them the answers, anyone show them a pic of a motorcycle. Bet not.

Ouch.....want to borrow my 11 year old for a few days, he makes a great "slave"!!!! And is used to looking after at least one Adult!

I went back to the gym then work today. I'm ok now - except for my wrist. Strapped up - I will still be able to ride this weekend - but only if Mike's better. Yes, I had comfort chocolate

When I was in the Navy, I bought duty free smokerettes from the canteen. Cost me a buck, then a buck twenty when they went up. If I ran out and had to buy from the servo, they were around 6.80 at the time. 6.80-1.20=5.60. Duty on durries is already petty steep:spank:.

People are addicted to smokes, and putting up the price (for the most part) will just make them struggle more to afford them, but it won't stop most folk smoking. If this was a serious effort to save people from a particularly nasty drug, they would ban the sale of smokes to people who aren't already smoking.

Sure it would go 'underground' but this hasn't made them legalize dope due to the same fear now has it? Cause it's too easy to grow dope and the Gov't woud make no money from it, whereas they can get some income from on the spot fines if they keep it illegal, but decriminalized. This IMHO is not about helping people quit. Can anyone say "REVENUE". Man I'm getting sick of this crud:spank:.

They argue that smoking related illness costs money......yes it does....ban the sale of smokes to anyone who doesn't already smoke.

Of course people who already smoke should be allowed to see their quack and get some sort of "smoker's I.D." card so they can still purchase smokes, almost like on pescription. (I have to see my quack every time I get my meds, and then visit the chemist, so a once off visit for an I.D. card is still better off than my situation, although selling them at the chemists would probably be a more reliable way to screen folk). If someone gets caught abusing their card, take it away from them. That would keep most people in line I think.:thumbup:

This will stop anyone new taking it up, unless they do so under the counter, and then that is their problem. In 50-60 years we could have a relatively nicotine addict free country, and they won't need all those extra tax dollars.

And, no that's not a reformed smoker speaking (ask Wolfman if I ever give anyone grief about their smoking). It's someone who genuinely doesn't want to see young people taking it up and is sick of the Gov't taking money off of folks under the guise of a helping hand.

Me missus told me tonight, that now, every four packs you buy, you get a packet of nicorette gum!

WTF?

What a joke...

$20-$25 extra for 4 packets of smokes....and one packet of gum...tokenism i say!

If they really wanna help...just ban the freaking things!

I would be thankful, and the money i would not be spending on smokes, would still end up in the economy!

Have been bad with asthma for last couple of weeks and HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TEST MY NEW RIZOMA BARS, GRIPS AND PAZZOS! Haven't suffered from it for a few years.

Was hoping to get out there today and have a little ride, but I need a few more days to get over it.
