I been on the DownLow

I've been thinking about another bike for a while now and there was a deal last week I couldn't pass up. A new 09 R1. I bought it last Saturday and have been pretty busy getting other stuff that needed to be done, so didn't post.
But here it is.
Great bike, Pulls really good but I'm still on break in and yes I have read some of the newer theory on break in. Took it for it's first ride on Montezuma Valley Road on Tuesday and it was great except for the Dunlop Sportmax tires. Yes they're new but I thought I'd get better grip from them. Maybe it was too cool for them but I was hard on my BT-016's and they never moved.
Handling in the turns was exhilarating. Reminded me of when I took Cali rider's ZX6r out. It's like the bike is more intuitive and very precise in the turns. Doesn't feel heavier than the FZ6 and I've seen numbers saying it's 5 lbs. lighter, and also seen 18 lbs. heavier, but when I'm shifting weight into a turn it feels no heavier and feels a lot more sure with the feedback I get from it. It keeps surprising me how nimble it feels. Brakes got better and better as I massaged them in. I haven't gotten near where the motor is supposed to wake up but I can tell you the cross plane does pull down low. That's all for now and here are a few pics.

Edit: Forgot to mention 1st gear on these is really tall and it reminds me of a V twin when you feather less on the clutch with that thump thump but it is a hoot coming out of the hole.

Edit: I traded the FZ6...Wished I could have kept it....I still love that bike.

Cliff, I fixed the images for ya, nice to see our favorite Yeti give his approval..

Congratulations on the fresh horse. Your comment on the lack of grip with the stock Dunlop is consistent with my experience from previous bikes. The only solution is to replace them, and you KNOW what works well...

Can't wait to see it in person, next weekend??

Thanks for fixing the pics for me John. Yeah the tires are new and who knows if there was something you couldn't see on the road but I'm betting it's the tires.
