When I took the advanced police motorcycle school many years ago, we were riding Harleys.
You'd be at full lock (steering), looking where you want to go. (If you looked down at the cones/ground, that's where you went).... Kept the throttle above idle(steady,2-3K), clutch partially engaged and adjusted your speed with the rear brake (NO front brake).
The turn around circles were 12 or 15' (forgot), you HAD to be dragging the bottom of your bike at full lock to make the turns, iron cross, etc inside the course.
We weren't timed, but it is amazing what training and knowledge you can accomplish, especially on a big bike...
When we were done, the parking lot had so many circles embedded in it, knew the cops were there....
