Pictoral guide to dropping a busa

I am by no means a great rider but I do know that his form on that corner was TERRIBLE. If he had adjusted his position and got more "off" the bike than he would have been fine... That is untill he ran into the truck coming in the other direction.

Mabye it was better for him to go off that corner...

if you don;t get off the bike (like him) then you need the bike to take a lot more of the lean than it needs to and you scrape hard parts way before you need to.

lesson to you all "Move your AZZ".

Lesson stolen from an instructor at a track day when giving advice to Keira...

Looks like he was going too fast, ran out of ground clearance.

On another note, this photo:

shows why you should always leave room for the unexpected. This truck is at least 6 ft in to the oncoming lane.

Know zackly what you're talking about. He was using all of the bike in the turn and he ran out of bike. If he'd hung out he'd have had the extra he needed to compensate coming too hot into the turn. And they let rigs on the road that can't possibly stay in their lane? Go back and look at pictures 7 through 10! Holy crap! Something for us to all learn from. Hope he was okay.

I get to ride with larger numbers of Busas and they are a heavier bike and they seem a little trickier in turns than our more nimble bikes.

3 weeks ago I was riding with some of SoCalRiders and I was headed hot into a turn and heard, "Rider Down! Rider Down" on the Chatterbox. I shut down and was in a cloud of dust entering the turn with the rider and bike just ahead and to the right, in a bush. It was the Busa that was in front of me. I was the first to him laying lifeless and was expecting the worse. I yelled to him and he opened his eyes and said I'm okay, :D just gathering myself.
He had lowered his tire air pressure that morning and when he came into that turn a little hot he tapped that back brake and he slid to the dirt shoulder and rode it a bit but couldn't avoid a little dirt berm. He launched about 30 feet.

WOW!!!!

This is pissing me off A LOT almost every weekend when I go canyon riding, seeing people on tight roads going fast (especially ladies with their frikin' Prius) and cut corners like ALL THE TIME!

I can't believe no one has mentioned his line. His poor line selection appears to be the biggist contributing factor to this crash IMO.

He turned in way to early and as a result ended up with an overly sharp point in his line that required more lean angle (and likely causing panic) than his speed otherwise would have called for if his line selection had been better.

this is a great thread to use to discuss why busa's suck so much ass! Keep'em at th drag strip and custom bike shows, thts all they're good for.

This line is called the "fast in - slid - crash out" aka "noob-line" which strangly enough a lot of novice riders take when then want to go faster round a track ...

hahaha

This is only funny if you saw the ride like rossi video :D:D:D
