FZ1 bars... what am i doin wrong...

Picked up some FZ1 bars here for $10 (thanks again)

installed em real quick... took a real quick spin... like less than a mile because it was drizzling a little... but man. it kills the throttle hand... like my wrist was sore in less than a mile... i guess i would have to take a pic of the bars for yall to tell me if its in the right position, but does anyone have pics of how theirs are mounted?

... also did anyone else have to move their brake cable slightly to allow for it not to hit the tree? i had to loosen the bolt ever so slightly (as to not allow air) and twist the cable to get it to not hit the triple....

Here are a couple of shots of my bike/bars. When I mounted them I think that I had to adjust the front brake line, too, just like you mention. I mounted the bars so that they were flat. To me, this not only looked correct but gave me sufficient clearance to miss hitting the tank.

Yes, I had to adjust the brake line a bit, and after a while I rotated the bar forward for a better wrist position.

These bars are only going to be comfortable if you take more weight with you back/trunk than you did with stock. I think that the main reason people say they are more comfortable is they are forced to leani forward out of the wind (not my thing). You WILL be putting more pressure on your wrists/arms unless you force yourself to hold the top half of your body up with your back/stomach as you would on a sports bike.

i wish i would have thought about it 5 min ago, but i just put the cover on the bike... i should have gotten a pic...
the bars are almost perfectly level, i have them turned as far down as i could before they hit the tank or either left or right side... im not sure what it is... i guess how my wrist twists on throttle movement, like i said, i only went a mile or so, maybe i just need to get use to them... but they seem so much more uncomfortable... my left hand feels perfect, but right got sore just that quick...

My suggestion is too tilt them upwards a bit, if they are hurting your wrists...i tend to sit as far forward as possible on my FZ....possibly a hangover from my Sportsbike riding days, and have shortish arms, so i dont find the "reach" uncomfortable at all.

Some of us find them more comfortable....plus it puts you a little bit closer to the front of the bike, which some of us reckon gives you more feedback as to what the front suspension is doing...and also relieves a little pressure on the Coaxic bone as well on longer rides..

i put FZ1 bars on mine a few weeks back and literally set the same angle as they sit on the FZ1, i dont have no wrist problems and didnt have any problems with the cable/hose routing.

Is that matt black powder-coat or paint that you've used on the triple tree and bars?
Black and carbon fibre parts really do look fantastic on the faster red FZ6. :thumbup:

It's powder coating. I had a bunch of stuff done. I'm a fan of the red/black look. And I'm lazy, so I didn't want to have to polish the header...that's ceramic coated.
