Seriously. I would like for you to dress up as a herniated disc and walk in my front door. Then i will punch you repeatedly and kick you until i feel better. Been outta work 2 weeks now and havent been able to ride or basically do ANYTHING. 2 DISCS!

Next week i get an epidural injection. Looking forward to it. But it hasnt stopped me from buying stuff for my bike. :Flip:

Been there, man - I feel for you. Sucker was all over my sciatica. It was actually more comfortable to ride the FZ than drive my car. Got a cortisone epidural and started feeling better about 2 weeks later. Took about 4 months to get to 90%. A year and was "back" to normal.

The shot doesn't work for everyone so I wish you the best of luck!

wow man, you posted your MRI! lol. nice! yeah one of my discs looks very much like that, all discombobulated. I think its L4-5, dont recall. It really took that long to feel better after the injection? to be honest the first 4 or 5 days? brutal. couldnt walk. pain all the way down my leg, in my right ball, and in my foot. now im walking and going back to work next tuesday but i still have teste pain and tingling numbing on my foot and leg. Ive heard from friends they too have had good results with the cortisone shots. ill tell ya, the oral steroids did NOTHING to help me at all. i finished the pack in a week and it didnt one bit.

I had this problem...went 3 weeks in a Hospital bed, pretty much anuable to move.....had an epidural, which apparently is quite risky, can make it worse....but in my case, i walked out the hospital 4 hours later, pretty much free of pain, but it did take months before i was fully recovered.

i wish you all the best with this..i feel your pain..not nice.

Chin up buddy.

Yeah, this can be serious business. I developed a new appreciation for people depressed with chronic pain, spending about a month in physical therapy before getting the MRI. Got so bad that I could only sleep on the floor, about 2 awful hours a night, with a heating pad strapped to my back. I was also popping ibuprofen like nobody's business.

The doc told me I was a surgery candidate but I decided to go the cortisone route first to see if it helped. Luckily it did.

After the shot they'll probably give you a pain diary to fill out daily, 0-10 scale. They do that so you realize your pain is actually going down. It does take a while but you should notice that absolute edge is easing after a few days.

If you ever want to talk about it shoot me a PM. I know a guy on another forum that had the same problem and we talked through it.

Reason it happened? i had to jump on my lug wrench to change a flat tire on my car. what makes it worse? i was at a friends house and someone walking down the block i guess slashed the valve on my tire. All this shoulda been avoided but oh well....................i guess if i didnt have the cheesy short typical lug wrench with the toy jacks most cars come with...............and my tire was put on with an air wrench also which spelled doom. I guess jumping on it 4 times sent a shock up my spine. Next morning i woke up at 5am writhing in pain.

So since my back let me down i decided to shower it with gifts. I bought a ram mount for my gps and another helmet. ;)

All I can say is ouch. And if you tried to punch me you'd probably throw two more discs out of whack!

I hope you heal up fully, I know it won't been soon, but hang in there dude.

been there. crawling on hands and knees to get to bathroom. i would loose control of my legs sitting up. ate pain pills like jelly beans.
had a .45 by my bed for protection. dad came by one day to check on me and i told him to get that thing out of here.
now i have spurs all on my spine top to bottom. i know what pain is. back surgery and all. if you need some one to talk to p.m. me. dont over do any thing right now. give it time.

pain is always worst in the morning when i first wake up. yeah i have exercises they gave me to do, and i can do them more comfortably now then at first which is good. but they aren't too strenuous anyhow. I just hope when i go for the consult this Monday they don't make me wait another week or more just to come back and get the damn shot.

I know this feeling as well happened when I was 18. Went to the doctor with a pain in my leg after a few days and they told me I should be in sugery the next day. Luckly my doctor was there on his day off and said screw that just told me to each ibprofen (sp) and go to a chiroprator. That worked for me along with walking really helped it get better. Whatever you do good luck and take it easy.

Hope you feel better soon!

I jumped a table top jump with my quad (Suzuki LTZ 400) and land on the top. My fat ass let the suspension bottom out and I did not expect the force on my legs. The seat hit my ass so hard it fracture one of my vertebra.

The first 4 weeks was hell, then it slowly went better when I could loose the back brace. I would say 8 months much better, 2 years no more problems. I had a hard time even after a year to sit at a desk for to long, most of the other times it was okay. Now everything is fine. Its a slow process - take your time.

You must work hard on your physical therapy. I was an ass and did not even go to a Physical Therapist and I think that prolonged the recovery allot.

Enjoy your off time and rest. Take care.

i'm in the same boat. but a shot won't work on me i had one surgery about 6 1/2 years ago and getting ready to have another one. the surgery is a bit more expensive but last time i was good to go in about 2 months. they go in with a laser and cut away part of the disc thats pressing on the nerve then reseal up the disc. called a discectomy. but hope every thing works out for you best of luck
