50 mile off road race is in the books

Saturday I competed in a 50 mile mountain bike race in White Springs FL.

Heavy rain and a high of 47 registered riders was 350 and I finished 9th (YAHOO) .... it was unclassed by age.

had to do it again ---this was my 9th time to race this one and since it was 50 miles and I recently turned 50 had to see how I fared against the youngsters. I was running 6th and had a rear tire blowout.... by time I got it changed I was passed by 3 guys.

I was hoping for a top 30 finish so I was elated with the 9th place spot.


it is amazing the drive train worked flawlessly when it was so covered with Mud & stuff

Well done, it's a great position especially as it wasn't in age group but overall :thumbup:

as cold as it flet with the rain .... if it was a bird nest it would be a pengu

It was challenging ...more so by the weather.... no too much elevation change.... (basically flat) but logs & streams (shallow) to negotiate.

luckily I was dressed right... my buddies had numb feet but my Moreno wool socks kept me warm though VERY WET

Now ditch that full suspender for a rigid rear end and you'll come in first! When I was young and never got soar and didn't weigh much I raced an all rigid cannondale...it was fast..even with me on it.

hey at 50 I will stick to the full suspension ... last vid I saw of you --- you were not on a Hardtail motorcycle

my time was just a titch over 4 hours avg speed was just under 12.... the first 5 miles were on soft sand double track -- it was tough going no roll .and deep puddles some well over a foot deep so you got very wet very fast .... then we his some nice single track where you could go if you are smooth around trees (picture multiple "S" curves of varying radius)

it was a blast albeit crappy weather
