I know that you said don't say this............but,
If you crash exploring the limits on the street, to fix or replace the bike/gear/yourself, will cost you much more than learning from an instructor on the track. You will never learn as much on the street SAFELY as you would on the track.
I know I sound like the forum mother hen (and I have ridden stupidly fast on the street) You say it is too expensive but you really aren't weighing all the pros and cons here......what you may do is cost yourself a lot more money than you expected, just keep that in mind :thumbup:
