Taking a trip - need lodging Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana

I am going to be the best man in two weddings this summer. Both guys are biking buds so I am planning a week long trip in mid may.

Right now the plan is to leave May 17 from the St Louis, MO area and travel through Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. We will try to hit Florida and Louisiana but likely will spend a couple days (at least) on the gulf coast (Gulf Shores, AL likely).

Anyhow, I am gonna post a link to a very general route. We are gonna try to stay off the super slab as much as possible.

Anyone willing to take in three bikers for a night along that route?

your route takes you prolly 300 miles from me Plus I wouldn't have anywhere enclosed for your bikes if that's something you'd like. Sounds like one heck of a ride tho. Let us know how it goes!

We are planning on arriving at Barber on Monday afternoon and spending the rest of the day there. Your place would be perfect for Monday night as we would have 285 miles to travel Tuesday for the day. Let me know what your plans are because that 29 place would want 50 bucks for caming with 3 people.

Latest plans!


We will be leaving the Festus, MO area Sunday morning May 17, 2009 for parts south. That evening we are planning on camping in northwestern Arkansas, somewhere mountainous and scenic if possible.
Monday morning, May 18, we will be hitting some beautiful mountain roads as we head southeast through Little Rock on our way to camping either in southern Mississippi or eastern Louisiana.
Tuesday morning, May 19, we will be exploring New Orleans, LA but leaving before dark (still unsure of how safe that town is) and heading to meet a friend in Gulport, MS, who has graciously volunteered to host the weary riders for a night.
Wednesday the 20th, we will depart for what I am anticipating will be a spectacularly beautiful ride. We will be riding along the gulf coast all the way to Panama City, FL. We will be taking the Dauphin Ferry and riding as close to the beach as possible all day long. Wednesday night we will be checking into a hotel in either Panama City or Panama City Beach.
Thursday the 21st will be a relaxation day. The only riding we will be doing on Thursday will be possibly to the beach and back. We will not be checking out of our hotel until Friday morning.
May 22nd, Friday morning, we will be departing towards home, heading northeast to hit the corner of Georgia (just because) and then eventually camping somewhere around Talledega, Alabama.
Saturday morning, May 23, we will be exploring the Barber Motorsports Museum and racetrack and likely spending several hours there before heading towards Union, TN. I am waiting to hear from some family friends from long ago on Saturday night accomodations.
Sunday morning we are headed towards home. We will be traveling US-51 to cross Kentucky and Illinois then likely I-55 all the way back to Festus.


It is getting pretty exciting and unnerving as the trip looms. I'm super excited though.

Hey, all.
Just thought I'd drop a status update on you. I know I posted a while back that I was taking a big trip. Well, currently I am in my tent at Fontainebleau State Park on the shore of Lake Pontchatrain down in Louisiana (thanks for the tip, this place is COOL).

Sunday, we left Festus around 9:30 am and 400 miles of fun later (32 then 63 etc and no interstate) we spent the night at KOA North Little Rock. Monday we decided to get to the gulf so 450 miles later, here I am. Again, no interstate.

Today we are headed into New Orleans to be tourists and eventually make our way to Gulfport MS for the night. Tomorrow night, Panama city beach!
