What type of frame sliders were they; make, construction?
No offense but that dosen't seem to make sense. it was probably some strange variable that caused it, i know that the bolts on sliders are generally designed to break if there is that much force on them and to just slide along typically. did the bolt bend or break at all? did it catch on anything?
Unknow brand name, the length of sliders around 5 inch.
Black plastic with alum. rod~~~~
That's your problem right there. Buy a quality crash tested product next time and hope for the best. There is a reason everyone at the race track uses sliders.

Yamaha uses Dupont's Delrin which is an "engineering plastic". Not sure what year the OP has, but the Yamaha sliders and Yamaha engine guard can not be used together on 2007 model.
Thats a shame, i wasn't sure of the mounting points but it would be nice if both could be used in conjunction with each other.
I actually bought my sliders for the more mundane accidents, like forgetting to put down the kickstand, hitting a curb, etc. Once I'm up to 30 mph or so, I'll be a lot more worried about my bones than my bike.
