Grip end remove..

Hei to all.

Sombody out there please can you tell me what
sort of tool (Umbraco zize) is to be used to remove the grip end.

It`s stuck.....

I know this is not correct or hith tech, but it sure worked with no damage.
Put a rag over the bar end, and tape it so it won't fall off.
Then adjust you channel lock pliers just right and break them loose.
Once broken loose you can take all the tape and rags off.
They unscrew counterclockwise.

I'm not fully sure either (you should search the term "bar ends" for the info) but I think a star/hex tool fits into the end.

But definately run that search because that piece you refer to is called a "bar end" and is weighted and can be changed to account for vibrations.

The correct tool is a 8mm hex (or allen in the U.S.) wrench.

Yes, a hex tool will do the trick. I took mine off a few days ago to replace my grips. Unscrew them counterclockwise and then you're on your way.

drill a hole in them big enough to put a screw diver through, then use the screw driver to unscrew them.. also works well on oil filters and headlight bulbs :thumbup:

Use a Allen wrench and a normal box end wrench that will slide over the allen and just turn them. Its easy.

To first break them loose sometimes you have to strike the wrench in the lefty loosey direction with the palm of your hand or if that fails a hammer.

Don't use the stock allen key. Save that for emergencies. Plus they snap easy. I snapped mine on one of the bolts holding the rear side panels on!

A socket wrench is easiest:-

Get some thread-lock for when you put them back on but screw them back on once beforehand to make sure that the throttle grip doesn't stick on them. There's details on how I installed my grips here.
