FZ6S review from Australia.

Its a good write up for the FZ6.

He is right about the mirrors and I do not think anyone has come up with a good replacement for them, unless I have missed that.

A difficult to hook centre stand - I have never had the problem, at all.

A bit thirsty...I don`t think so but it depends how hard he was thrashing it.

Personally I like the good (rear) visability the mirrors offer.

I've never had any trouble with the centre stand either.

As Steve says thirsty is dependant on how you ride it.

That is one of the fairest assessments I have read about the bike. Most of the UK press have just slagged it because it has always been compared to sports bikes.

Australia's biggest selling Motorbike Mag, Australian Motorcycle News just did a middle weight naked comparo in their Year Book.

It pitted the the FZ6N against the Honda CB600F, Triumph Speed Triple, Suzuki SV650, Kawasaki z750, Aprilia Shiver 750, and the Ducati Monster 696.

This comprehensive test is not available online, and i dont want to scan it....but the FZ6 also faired very well in this test....came out pretty much equal first with the Triumph for best bike in this group....not bad 4 a four year old design...with only very small changes.

Bought this mag b4 going on holidays and didn't get a chance to read it until I got back a week ago. So... reading it a bit late, but yeah, great review of the FZ6n. Will quote the closing remarks on our fav steed. It's the 2nd last paragraph of the review, the writer (Nigel Crowley) goes on to say something or another about the speed triple... lol

"So then the FZ6 tops the poll of the fours, and by some margin. Everything about this bike is superbly well executed. The chassis, the suspension, the ergonomics and of course that utterly engaging engine. This bike just kept on surprising me with its ability and was a total joy to ride in all circumstances. I had an immense amount of fun on the Yam and for the price it really is outstanding value for money"

Of course, we all knew this all along

Value of money, I like this part. Now if only some of the aftermarket parts are value for money....hmmm

When I first got my FZ, I had an incident with the Kickstand and Centerstand (Trying to put the bike on the centerstand for the first time, took some skin off of the ole shin when it came in contact with the kickstand which was still up). Easy fix, I now put the kickstand down first, so no more shin issues. So, I can see where he is coming from, but now that I use them regularly, no worries.

I think there was a solution for FZ1 which worked for our FZ6 too. See this thread - Possible FZ6 Mirror Mod - Sportbikes.net

However I doubt whether it works for the 07+ models.

A great review. I feel strongly that the FZ6 is one of the best buys on the market. A great bike for a fair price.
