Help with tire size!

I'm trying to order some tires online for my super-secret big trip.

The website is asking for the rear tire size of:

180/55ZR-17 (73W)
OR
180/55ZR-17 B (73W)

The owner's manual says that the size is:
180/55ZR17M/C (73W)

What do I choose?

What's that extra B for??

If it was me, I'd get the one without the B... maybe it's an OEM version or something like that.

B: Bias belted; tires for motorcycles (Example: 150/70 B 17 69 H)—diagonal construction with belt added under the tread

*bias belt (where the sidewalls are the same material as the tread, leading to a rigid ride)

I believe the 'B' is for a little beefier sidewall for heavier bikes.

Do I get the
Michelin Pilot Road 2 CT Radial
or the
Michelin Pilot Power 2 CT

I think I get the radial because:
180/55ZR-17 (73W)

the R indicates radial

The Pilot Road 2 CT is a sport touring tire while the Pilot Power 2 CT is a sport tire. You want a radial tire, but I didn't think Michelin makes either tire in bias ply... Maybe they are being redundant in the description.

I just had a set of pilot road 2's put on my bike and was wondering the same thing about the B found this on the Michelin website

180/55 ZR 17 rear also available in a 'B' version, specifically designed for loaded sport touring or riding two-up.

The "B" is for heavy bikes such as the FJR or Beemer LT. I've used both on my FJR with no real difference. It may help for those bikes when you ride 2up with gear.
The FZ does not need a B tire.

What type of riding do you do or are you planning to do? How fast do you want to replace tires? There are trade offs.

Get the Pilot Road for much longer tire life, the Power is a softer tire which is better for track use but won't give near as much tire life on those Minnesota flat roads.

What about these "Pure" Pilots I was seeing...any feedback on those??

The Power Pure's are a dual-compound tire for more aggressive riding similar to the Power 2CT, but the softer compound goes much further down the shoulder of the tread. You would benefit from the Pure's if you rode from Winona to Red Wing along the river daily or if you wanted to convert your FZ6 to a track specific bike. Stick with the Roads if you are riding a ton of flat freeways because the Pure wouldn't give you what you paid for.
