Whoa... The drama...
There is too much drama going on in your post(s) for us narrow your problem down. I'm thinking you have some stuff unrelated to the oil fill going on.
I would not have measured that way, but that doesn't mean it's out of alignment either. If the chain is aligned with the front sprocket and tire wear looks good your method most likely is in alignment. Personally, I measure from the swing arm mount bolt holes but others have a different way...
I do wish the owner of the parked Goldwing I hit today had some noise available.
Yep! I just took out a Honda Goldwing in the Burger King parking lot. Ran right over that expensive bike - well not over but enough to kick the crap out of it.
Tip: Parking lots are dangerous for bikes when...

You will, with time, manage your breaks better but if you get in a habit of never using the rear break it MAY hurt you in a bad way. Both are there for a reason!
Hellgate your right about the shocks. HD re-tuned the suspension for the '09 models but I still feel them bottoming out. They may not actually be bottoming out, but they feel so on certain rail tracks around here. I need to adjust them a notch or two and see.
As far as the brakes go, I think...
Thanks and damn straight I'll wave back. I'll be the non-Harley looking rider with the ride gear and all. :)
As far as the lower back pain, I say this now but it's not as bad as my thumb/wrist pain was on the FZ.
Yep! A piece of cake. You may wish to use the extension handle that is in your tool kit. I've smacked my hand with only the adjustment wrench. Looking at the bike, left side, fit the wrench and turn it forward - the mono shock setting will click in place.
The scales tell me my single ride weight is 205lbs with gear and I use 4.
When I add a 2nd person I bump it up to 5. Most of the surfaces I ride are smooth so I don't bottom out but if your roads are bad, with two up I would go maybe 6 depending on combined weight.
Get a second FZ6 and both of you ride together.
Other than that, you are in limits but you should watch the kind surfaces you ride over [bumps and such] and you may need to visually inspect the bike more often for stress cracks around the mono shock.
I agree! While there is great attention over this kid, it doesn't sound like the adults figures around him have a clue. I think about the others on the track that could be seriously injured - I'm just glad I'm not on the track with him.
Reckless behavior to me.
My ride partner was disappointed I didn't get the 1200. But your correct, everywhere I search says the same thing; The aftermarket mods will get you more HP than a stock 1200 and cheaper.
Hello, I now own a Sportster.
Tell us now... How did this happen?
Well here I am in my third ride season on the FZ6 and for unexplained reasons I cannot for the like of me get comfortable. I mean my throttle thumb is killing me, due to the odd angle [speaking for me] of the handlebar and...
First, congratulations on paying off the Vulcan. It feels good to pay a vehicle off - no matter how many wheels.
Oddly... I just paid off my FZ6 today and now (shhhhhhh....don't tell the wife) looking at cruisers. My argument, is to have a bike that I can take to campus [work] and not be too...
