Just thought I would put my 2p in on my latest mod.
At first, I really didn't notice too much difference with the 15T front sprocket. There was a small difference but noting earth-shattering. Don't know what I was expecting but whatever it was - this wasn't it. I have to admit I was a tad bit disappointed. Whatever - as I have learned from experience with mods before - I thought I would wait to make a decision until I had actually had a chance to ride to work and back. Yeah...
OK, so there is a difference - a big difference - but it is subtle. I know that seems to be a contradiction but that's the only way I can explain it.
It doesn't change into some wheelie animal wanting to lift the front wheel all the time or jump away from lights, it just gets on with the job (as all Fazers do) but it does it slightly easier.
Because it moves up in the rev range to go the same speed, moving you closer to the powerband than before, the net effect is that the bike feels quicker or more powerful or smoother or something. It's hard to put your finger on it exactly. (Of course YOU know what it is because you did the mod but if you hadn't done it, I reckon it might be tough to work out exactly what was different.)
I also thought it might make more noise because of the missing rubber piece around the outside, but I haven't really noticed any extra noise. I can't really hear over my Scorpions anyway.
I installed the SH last night so haven't had a chance to ride with it yet but I don't expect to have any thoughts on it - it either works or doesn't.
Anyway, I hope that was somewhat interesting.
