Yamaha Top Case!

Here's the Yamaha Top Case I picked up second hand. The case has never been used, brand new. The mount is used but in great condition. Fits the bike perfectly as it is OEM. Case is 44L and will hold 2 full-face helmets. It is fully locking and very secure. I rode it out on the highway and honestly couldn't even tell it was there. There are no lights, just reflectors, but of course it is made to be removed and carried with you if needed. A+

You mention it can hold two full face helmets and I see in the picture you have a helmet and some other gear in there. Do you think at 44 liters it can hold a helmet, jacket, and overpants? I've been thinking about picking up a top case and I'm trying to get a feel for what the different sizes really can hold.

I think it could hold that, depending on the jacket. I can put my helmet, my Alpinestars Street Cargo pants which are pretty thick and have armour, and gloves and there is a little room to spare. Really, the best is to take your gear and try it out at a showroom.

That case looks EXACTLY like the Givi V46. Uncanny. Maybe they re-brand?

Givi does re-brand but that looks like it could be either an E450 or a V46 (edit - does look like a V46)

Geez, they're both pretty close...certainly the same latch and lock mechanism! Interesting, thanks for that.

Actually - looking at this again I may have changed my mind (again). The sealing surfaces for the cases are different and this Yamaha case looks more like a monolok(e450) setup than monokey (v46) in that regard. The monolok mounting setup would look something like this


The monokey would replace the the two slots at the leading edge with two posts (or tabs or similar).

The Yamaha case is a Monolok design; in fact, you can attach a GIVI Monolock case to the Yamaha rack, from what I have been told. The bottom of the GIVI Monolok looks exactly like the Yamaha.

I have this case too and it will hold all that *but* not if you have a hard back protector in your jacket. I'm constantly amazed at the amount of crap I can carry in it. For example, I can carry a laptop bag, my suit, over trousers, and two dozen Krispy Kremes.
