Woot! My Project got Approved!!!!!

I just did a presentation for a business transformation project that I spent the last four months working on and IT WAS APPROVED!!!!! WOOOOOT!!!!

Now the hard part begins, making it happen.

Thanks. Oh it will be fun, taking a government agency from the stone ages to the 20th century. Note I didn't say 21st as their heads have already exploded. That is right, I can finally toss the IBM typewriter (seriously) and replace it with IBM BPM, eForms and P8 File Net. Imagine, no more TPS cover sheets!

Nope, no bonus, no millions...I'm a government poge. I get a check regardless.

I'm still stoked to have a fun job that I can make a difference with. My employees are productive (got rid of the two worst ones), they are happy, I got funding, a great IT department, and a boss, and boss's boss who want it fixed.

It is refeshing to find a government agency that WANTS to make change and get better. I might step on a few toes along the way but it is what it is.

As the saying goes, "Lead, follow or get the F out of the way!"

I'm transforming an Administrative Hearings organization (State Taxes) from a a paper based office environment, to one that is computer based.

Instead of creating letters and memos in Word on a computer; the attorney will log-on to a computer system, select the correct form, enter the case number, the form will auto populate with taxpayer info, the attorney will use pull downs and free text fields within boil plate to complete the form. Once they are finished with the form, they route it to the next person. No paper and the data is instantly in the data system.

Currently we create a document on Word, print it out, and hand carry it to the next person, and so on, and so on, and so on....multiply that by 2,100 cases that take an average of 9 months to complete, each attorney has about 120 active cases. I have 85 five drawer filing cabinets, or about 4,000,000 pieces of paper.

So you get the idea.

My aim is to make it easier for everyone, simpler logistics, more integrated, transparent data that is minable.

I tell my people, "I want dirt simple." or "Make is a self licking ice cream cone."

My wife was responsible for doing similar work for her standards engineering group at the company she works for. I'm very proud of her work and integrity.

Keep up the great work. It sounds like, in a very short time, you've ingratiated yourself with this organization as well as seen to it's growth.

but well done anyway, :thumbup: I know what it's like to bust your ass to get approval especially when everyone knows it need to be done, but you have to do all the cost benefits analysis and show all other possible ways to do it
