I have an 04 FZ6 that is very difficult to start first thing in the morning.
Once it has started it is fine and will fire right up the rest of the day and run great.
The battery is strong and will crank the motor fast for a long time. Voltage stays above 10 volts at the terminals while cranking. I have checked fuel pressure, comes up to 40 PSI as soon as you turn the key and stays up while
cranking, Adjusted the valves and new plugs 1500 miles ago. 180 psi compression at all cylinders from cold engine. Spark appears strong and will jump 1/2 inch. I pulled all injectors and put 12 volts to them and ran brake parts cleaner and WD40 through them, they seem to be fine. I checked all sensors Throttle position, crank shaft position, air temp, and air pressure, and they are all within resistance or voltage specs from my service manual. Although the throttle position sensor never returns to zero. It goes from .67 volts to 3.7volts.
I installed an aftermarket speedometer and the problem first started after the installation. I removed the original water temp sensor and installed a new one connected directly to the new meter. I left the old temp sensor plug hanging loose. I don't know if the new speedo would be an issue or not.
If I spray some starting fluid into the air cleaner that helps a lot with the cold start.
I am requesting any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks for your help.
