Wondering about changing handelbar.

I've been thinking about how I'd like to lower my handle bar and changing things around. I know there are threads here about changing over to an FZ1 bar and there are other options as well.

I have this crazy idea and I have looked around the forum and I haven't seen anyone talk about it. What if you took the stock handle bar and reversed it and turned it upside down. It would still sweep back and would lower it as well.

I got the idea from looking at some Cafe Racer handel bars that look like upside down versions of handlebars.

I haven't tried it yet, and I don't know if there would be any problems with them running into the tank when trying to turn or not.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, I don't think you should flip them, it would be quite a drop for your arms. If you want mote aggressive riding style, try some LSL drag bars. They don't hit the tank.

You can try, but I'm almost positive the stock bars would hit both the tank and the fairing well before full lock. Before going to the FZ1 bars I dropped my stock bars down (swiveled back a bit) just to play and they were super close to my tank. Like Geoff said, try LSL, Renthal, or FZ1s and Bob's your uncle. :thumbup:

and controls and cables would be a mess if you want to twist it too much...

You can play with a small amount of twist though, to find something more comfy for you.

I've been looking through the pics of members who have done different mods to thier FZ and I thought I saw some that had the clip-on style handlebars. I thought it might move the grips to about the same possition, I just don't like the idea of the open bracket where the handelbar used to be.

I remember thinking that I would have to remove the front fairing and do something different with the headlight.

Thanks for the input, I'm actually just thinking about things I want to do to my FZ while I'm away from home. I seem to go back and forth on the idea of getting full plastics for it or going naked. I like both looks and realize I only have one bike. :spank::BLAA:

I vote naked, but I'm a little biased

Look at Rizoma bars - @US$78 and I managed to change them myself. Huge difference. Love them.
