There were a lot of bikes on the way home from work today, and a buddy of mine (Harley owner)who rides with me (we take turns driving every other day) was talking about women riders. He said he thinks more women own/drive/ride sportbikes, while I said more women own/drive/ride Harleys. Anyone have any statistical data one this? Thanks, MATT

As for women on bikes, it might be 50/50 . I ride an FZ6 and my wife rides a cruiser (not a harley) but we are "middle aged" and we are not the usual, as most people our age, from what I have seen, are both on cruisers. But I just love my sporbike. But it all comes down to this: it just depends on how comfortable the bike feels to you as a person. Any statistical data would be very interesting.

Anecdotal, but from what I have seen, more women actually ride cuisers (i.e. bought them to travel on) and more females with sportbikes got them to look pretty on, pick up guys, make a guy happy, etc....

Of course these are generalizations, but it's pretty noticeable at bike nights around here. The cruiser girls show up with high mileage and real clothes on, the sportbike girls are dressed like hookers on their bikes they have been "riding for 4 years" with 400 miles on them.

I hate generalizations, 'cause now someone will be mad....

i was in my local bike shop today, hanging out and chewing the fat for a couple of hours..while i was there ,there was a woman who i would guess as being in her mid 40's,well dressed professional looking type, she was buying a paddock stand comatable with a GSXR 1000 (for her son???) ..turns out its hers ,she does track days too and does all her own mainatnence.

I was pleasantly supprised
