Taller is not always better, just ask most of the guys who have put on the Yamaha Touring screen. I'm 5'7", my 2004 had the touring screen when I bought it and it bounced my head all over the place. I put on the piug double bubble and it stopped most of the head buffeting and improved the wind noise some.
If you are trying to stop wind noise by replacing the wind screen your money will be better spent on some good earplugs. Most of the wind noise is not so much wind noise as it is pressure changes caused by the turbulent air the wind screen creates. You can prove this to yourself by riding without the wind screen or standing up on your bike. All most all of the wind noise will disappear because your head is in clean air. Earplugs help prevent your ears from experiencing the rapid pressure changes that most peaple describe as booming noise. You have to get the right size to seal up the ear canal correctly.
A different windscreen may lessen or worsen the windnoise. You should wear earplugs no matter what you decide to do. Your hearing will be damaged otherwise. You can always try another windscreen, you can't get new ears.
