Who says the FZ6 can't hang with ss bikes??

Went to the 1/8 mile drags tonight....did great!! got 2nd out of 8 or so sportbikes...

I had my 16t back on the front, stripped EVERYTHING non-essential... hugger, passenger pegs, windshield, mirrors, centerstand, and put the CO mod thru its paces, (10, 8) is what I had it set at.
I beat a cbr 600rr, R6, gsxr600 and got my butt handed to me by a gsxr with pcIII and a whole bunch of other shiny stuff....

So who says the FZ is inferior to the R6 or other super-sport bikes???? cuz that person can shove it

I've run my 2008 FZ6 against a buddies 2009 ZX6R numerous times on the 1/8 mile drag strip at our local airport. The FZ6 seems like it's geared a bit lower than the ZX6R which works great for the 1/8 mile track. Even with a poor launch, I can beat the ZX6R at the 60 foot mark, the 330 foot mark and also at the trap (660 ft).

However... when comparing time slips, you can see the ZX6R's higher peak HP and taller gears are starting to work in it's favor. My average trap speed with the FZ6 is 89-90 mph while the ZX6R is around 93-94.

I think if you ran a 1/4 mile race against the super sports, you would find the results would be entirely different with the edge going to the super sports.

I'd like to see him run a 1/4 against a ss bike, he doesnt weigh much at all so he might really be able to take out a r6 on the 1/4!!!

found out it was a gsxr750...so I really didn't have a snowballs chance in hell.

I think it was my launching that really helped, that R6 beat me in practice but only by 1/2 bike length.....

now i reallly neeed to go to Commerce and do the 1/4!!!

Q? How's the bite at launch? Are slippin the clutch, pullin the nose or spinning the tire? And what's your launch RPM?

I've never taken a bike to the track but I've had various cages there and dropping the tires PSI can make a huge difference if it spinning at the tree. However I'd rather go slower than flip!

I was playin around ALOT with my launches and CO settings during practice....like I ran 15 runs and a couple of them hotlaps...

I found that if you jump the clutch you either spin or the engine bogs down, so definitely ease out on the clutch(dont drag it hard but dont dump it) I was probably gettin maybe 2-5inches lift on the front end and then it jumped back up going into 2nd and 3rd gear. shifting RIGHT at redline

I was launching at like 8k at first but it wasnt giving me a good launch,, I ended up goin with like 10-11k launch rpm...fortunately during race time it hooked great and I kept the rpms high :rockon::rockon:

I had forgotten how much I loved racing....and how much I hate the organization at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

but I personally dont think I am the one to take advice from, I am by no means a pro
