Where does one obtain r6 front suspension??

Just a quick question for potential future mods.... I know alot of you upgraded the stock front suspension to the r6. So my question is, where did you get them and how much did they cost??
Edit: another quick question I just thought of.... does specific years of the r6 coincide with specific years of the fz6 for the swap? or 2000+ all pretty much universal?

as karen said... ebay is a possibility. you can also check craigslist. if you've never used searchtempest, now would be the time to start. this will allow you to search multiple areas at once.

as for what years work... there are a number of threads out there about this. basically anything from the r6s will work. and then the forks from the '03-'06 i think. not sure about the ending year but i do know starting in '03 and going until the r6 went with usd forks. just go to the mod page and start looking. i had to actually dig through the pages rather than use the search function because this forum won't search for words under 4 characters.

cost... depends on the person you buy from. i've seen them as high as $300.00 for what you need. last night i lucked out and caught a set on ebay that had just been listed. got the forks, calipers and axle shipped to me for $150.00. just depends on how patient and diligent you are.

i checked that thread out... but to me it seemed to deal more with conversions that take more work. didn't seem to have much on the r6s forks that just take some spacers. i now see there is the address for what lerecords has... but it's not a link. maybe if it were a link i would have noticed it at a quicker glance.

What you want are '03-'04 R6 or '07+ R6S forks. If you see "USD", it means "upside down"...thus, the newer R6 forks and those aren't "plug and play".

Mine were $250 nearly 4 years ago from someone on eBay. Forks, bottom triple, calipers, and axle. As pointed out before, you'll need the shims for the calipers, axle, and fender adapters to make it work. If you look through some of the threads posted earlier, you'll find that you can get the axle and caliper shims (basically they're washers) from McMaster Carr. You'll be able to find the correct sizes you'll need in those threads too.

The fender adapters you'll have to work out for yourself since no one is making them anymore. It's not that hard, but takes a bit of work to get correct.

thank ya. yeah, i've been checking ebay and craigslist pretty regularly. i actually logged into ebay because i was prepared to buy a full set (clip ons, mc, etc.) for $340.00 because i wasn't seeing anything else. these had just been listed and i was sure something was wrong them with. i looked over the listing about 5 times and checked his feedback. only thing is one of them has a leaky seal so i need to replace the seals. so i guess there's another $40.00 worth of seals and oil on top of the price, but i'm fine with that. the seller tells me he's a certified moto mechanic and would do the job for $75.00 but i'm cheap and figure i need to learn how to do this some time. now's as good a time as any.

I got a set of 2008 R6S forks off ebay for $225 shipped. One of them had a little scratch right where the top triple clamp locks it so no big deal for me.
