Whats your Favorite Rock song's?

Re: whats your favorite Rock song?

Your kidding! I've gotten a chance to play and go camping with Bruce Springsteen before he was famous. We played in different bands at the same venues when we were 16 years old! Haha! I've met and jammed with Richie Havens twice! Hahaha! All of these people were great! None of them full of themselves. It seems to be a formula that I've seen repeated in great musicians. I think it has to do with listening to others and their hearts.

Love this song. I ended up hating the sound of the Hammond B3 for a long time because everyone in Jersey were trying to ride the wave that Springsteen created and were mimicking the E street band. Most people don't like what Springsteen was doing but once you go to a live performance you find that it's more than just the songs. There's an energy that comes through that's part of the music that doesn't just hearing it.

The sound of this band (Counting Crows) renewed and vindicated the B3 once more.

"We all wanna be big big stars. Yeah, we got different reasons for that"

Enjoy!

I just remembered! Holy!....My band opened for Gene Cornish from The Rascals. He was starting a cross country tour in a little club in Jersey. The owner of the club snorted the money for the sound company to do our sound. So when it came time to play we were screwed. At the time I was a sound engineer for the High Tide Cafe, which used to also be the well known Fast Lane club. I got some self contained gear a board and got us mixed for live sound. Gene Cornish was really happy and He was my bands sound engineer as we opened for his band and I was his sound engineer. We brought the roof down that night and I made a cool friend. You have to imagine I was a kid who grew up listening to these guys on the radio and our band wasn't just opening but I was playing with Gene and his group that afternoon as we did sound check and we had a great time.

I just remembered some others! This story is too long but Ike Turner was trying to get me to go on tour when he was going out as Ike and the Ikettes. This story is about a porn star trying to change the direction in her life and learning how to sing country music by singing in karaoke bars across Europe. She hooked up with my ex drummer from a band called Halogen Moon and the story's just too long but yeah..... Ike and crew heard me play at this club and asked me to hook up....
Donnie, I never really thought about it but maybe you're right! I have lived a charmed life! Hahaha! I couldn't even begin to tell you some of the stories but I can tell you Rock N Roll is one of the most interesting and dangerous professions. It has grown into so many genres. May it always be with us!
:rockon:Rock On my brothers and sisters! Rock On!:rockon:

Re: whats your favorite Rock song?

Thanks for starting this Rock thread Donnie.
You are all the very best!

Here's a little. "I know you're here" by Steve Vai

You can even hear the Frank Zappa influence in some of the phrasing of his solo. Frank went to high school here in Pacific Beach and Steve got a job with him for a while. I guess you would categorize this as fusion but it's still rock n roll and I like it I like it!...Hahaha!

He creates a loop with digital delay and is using a 3 neck guitar.
One neck a 12 string with a synth pickup (open tuning)
One neck a 6 string with frets
One neck a 6 string fretless (open tuning)
