"Zomfg" originated in 14th century Persia during an assault on modern-day Iran. The "Dishpuhkt Clan" or the "Nasal Ingesters of Sand Clan" attacked a military outpost run by army leader Mahmoud Al-Hafez Mohammed. The military outpost held the nation's stock of falafel, so it was guarded heavily. When the Dishpukt clan invaded, Mahmoud scribbled down on a piece of paper,"zomfg need backup jeezuz", a request that was never fulfilled.


Actually, usually spelled entirely in caps, this abbreviation originates from the typo you get when you strike the shift key in order to type OMFG, but you miss and hit the z instead.

OMGF - oh my (place foul language beginning with the letter F here) God.

I honestly always thought that the "z" in "ZOMFG" stood for "Zerg"
Which comes from the computer game Starcraft. The way the mass Zerg armies overrun your base makes you say ZOMFG(Zerg oh my god!)

Another one of my favorites is ABSURDREZ.
It basically stands for "absurd resolution," which is meant to be screamed when
you see a giant picture that blocks out the sun!
