I posted before about some offroad action alternatives but as I decided that I always will need 2 bikes I'm thinking something this for street use:

I was never considering "upgrade" my Fz6 to anything, but now that it was totaled in my two months ago crash I will "downgrade" to a honda cbr250r, I don't know how it works there in the states or europe but here even with insurance you loose a lot of money, so no more big bike for some time.

Have in mind a FZ6 here is a big bike, pretty expensive insurance, expensive gas, tyres expensive as hell.

so I will go for the honda approximately in october, it has fuel injection, ABS, everything for it is half or a third the price of the FZ6, no debts for me, lot of aftermarket parts, etc

Cheers

I voted FZ1 since thats what I have. The FZ6 is powerful enough that any other 600 or 650 wouldn't really be a decent upgrade (My opinion), even the FZ8 only has a couple horse power over the FZ6. Any liter or higher on this short list would be fine.

1) Triumph Sprint GT. Lower weight then other ST's in its class and just as powerful.

2) Aprilla Tuono. VERY Nice torquey semi-naked bike

3) Kaw Ninja 1000 or Z1000

4) Bandit 1250. Nice and torquey but heavy.

5) FJR? maybe

Oh man, this Tuano is my dream bike...for now. The most powerful naked on the market if I'm not mistaken. Just sweet! But my FZ6, even though beat up a little, works great, and I like it even more as a naked bike.

But as something more financially manageable my pick would be:
Yamaha wr250x - 100+ mpg
Honda NC700X - I like its features
Super Tenere - world touring bike
FZ6 - upgraded, less plastic, more aggressive looks
Suzuki GSR? which is not available in the US - looks awesome
FZ1 - power bike you can tweak to your needs
Honda VFR1200F - looks great and it's big
Moto Guzzi Griso - huge naked with massive engine, great look, shaft drive
TUANO

It would be a great dilemma though. Primarily MPGs count while commuting and I'm not convinced that 1000 cc bike is good for that. Just too much power, torque and money for rubber. Never been to the track, but that's a different story. Well, when I win lotto I'd buy them all....yeah.....

I love the idea of this as an upgrade. Main negatives for me are a slightly taller seat height (the FZ6 at stock was too much for my comfort) and 30KG or so more wet weight. :(

Although there have been a few bikes in between, I eventually upgraded to my Kawasaki Z1000. I like the naked look to the bike, plus the power that it kicks out. It's a fun, crazy fast bike, and it just feels right.

I would have to hop on an Aprilia Shiver. I don't know if it would be an upgrade so to speak. A little more torque being a vtwin, but it is really the looks I like.

I would try and keep my FZ6 and buy a KTM 690 Enduro r or maybe a 525 EXE, otherwise if I did have to sell it would be a FZ1 Fazer I guess.

Strange how many people are interested in dual-sport bikes as replacements to the FZ6. I'd have thought it would be mainly sports-tourers as direct replacements with sports bikes like the R1 as "upgrades"!
