Wouldn't call it an upgrade, but I just picked up a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 R cruiser. I wanted to try one. I don't think it's going to be as exciting, but I am looking forward to the totally new experience and have already met a nice bunch of folks on the VTX Forum (which btw, is very much like this one). These bikes require MUCH more maintenance, and I think I will enjoy that. I really haven't had to do engine work since I owned my puke green '71 Impala! There is actually a procedure for starting these bikes and you can end up with four fouled plugs if your screw up. I'll continue to lurk and may be back in a few years if I get bored (maybe an FZ1 at that point, who knows).

Be safe all!

After a year with my 07 FZ6 which was a great bike i changed it for a new Honda CB1000R.
Must admit i miss the FZ6 as it was totally reliable with no problems at all unlike the Honda.
Have had continuing problems with this bike.
Faulty spark plug and tyre fixed under warranty.
Bad fueling at low speed due to over restrictive Cat. Causes lumpy low speed ride , very jerky.
Plus side it feels bigger and handles great no spongy front end as on the FZ6.
Power is awesome.
Wish i could have kept fz6 and also got CB.

See, the CB1000R is on the top of my list of bikes to upgrade to, so I'm a little nervous hearing this!

I looked at a BMW F800 ST on Friday. Big bucks but that is one nice machine.
Light like FZ6 but lower CG with the fuel tank under the seat.

I really like the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Sport... but can't justify spending 20 grand on something with only 2 wheels. For now the FZ does a great job of everything and I'm really happy with it.

I rode a fz1 yesterday wow what a difference thats where I would go. I should have stayed off of it now I cant stop thinking of the power difference. I can do with out the fuel mileage difference though.

Only bike in my horizon right now is the new Ninja 1000, or maybe a sixth gen VFR 800.

I have much bigger priorities for my money right now, so the Fizzer isn't going anywhere. Would be neat to hit 100k km with it too, at 75k km right now

Luckily I am still satisfied with my FZ6... No matter what I think I'll keep it for at least 2 years more while I am still studying. I am thinking it has to be a similar type of bike (mixed race/touring) - but of course better than FZ6 in most aspects. Also it has to be as comfortable as possible for rear passenger (without being a Goldwing)... I often got the GF behind me.

Something like BMW K1200S/K1300S or more likely Honda VFR 800.

YAMAHA FJR 1300. Check it out. :D Its cheaper than your BMW and has everything you want.

Cheaper you say? If we are talking brand new bikes then the FRJ1300 is more expensive than the Beamer
In little Denmark (Europe) we have extreme taxes on cars/bikes. I doubt I will buy either mentioned models brand new.
After converting from Dkr to USD...
FJR1300 = 51.000 USD
K1300S = 48.000 USD
VFR 800 =37.000 USD

Possibly a 2nd hand FJR is cheaper - but not by much!

The FZ6 cost me 11.500 USD and it was 2 years old and had covered 20.000km - it was a total bargain at the time!
So don't start crying about paying 3-4.000 for your FZ6 !!! :Flip:
:D

*** Actually the Danish police have started riding FJR1300's... about half is FJR and the other Beamer (can't remember which one?)

The FJ is a total dog compaired to the K13..and with the ESA it is so easy to set up for 2 up riding its silly..that and the real (servo) power brakes make it stop so nice...its crazy..
The duo lever front end corners so nice...
Of course the 176 BHP and 115Ft Lbs of tourque doesnt hurt either...
If you can take one for a test ride...see for yourself..

OMG! those prices are nuts!! I only paid $8K for my K...

I posted before about some offroad action alternatives but as I decided that I always will need 2 bikes I'm thinking something this for street use:

After I sat on a R1200GS at a local bike show I decided it's too big/heavy for me so I'd go for a new Tenere not Super.
