Motul 5100 at last oil change - stopped a lot, but not all clunking.

The 7100 fully synthetic does a better job of this again....but i dont think you will ever get rid of that clunk changing from 1st to 2nd...it's a doosy, thanks for that Mr Yamaha!

strange.
I was searchign this site yesterday for oil "stuff"

had to do a quick 5k oil change out at Dubbo yesterday.
dude at the yammy dealer there tried to get me to get Belray..

glad I didnt given that NO ONE has even ticked it.
kept saying that the ASBK Yamaha teams use it. I didnt believe him.]

Oh yeah..

Motul 5100

I've been trying different oils in my Fazer for a while now, not really settling with any particular brand. I used to use Mobil (I think it was Extra 4 T or something like that), but last time I tried a Honda semi synth (I know, it's Blasphemy putting a Honda oil in a Yamaha! LOL) and just yesterday I changed the oil to Belray EXP. A quick ride shows the gear change is smoother (than old oil), and no major clunking. I only fill the oilpan to a few mm just below the full line on the dipstick, and this has fixed the loud clunking I used to have. It still clunks a bit to remind me it's a Yammy...

BEHOLD!!!

On my new Postie run (yes I ride a bike for a living), I have the Australian importer of Repsol on it.
Also, there is a shed load of wreckers and mechanics and engine tuners that I also deliver to. They all use Repsol..

I am making inquireys, but its looking like I will be able to start purchasing Repsol Oil in 5 litre containers..

I will find out more Monday and will keep you posted...

Mate! That has been my dream job for about 15 years. I'm too heavy for the bike though. Sigh.....stupid big bones...lol.

its not all that its cracked up to be tbh.....

I'm sure it's got it's irritating bits...lol...after all it's a job.

But I'll bet it beats the crud out of dressing in a paper bag and shower cap and beard gaurd and in a white room staring at the reflection of yourself in the tinted windows whilst sweating your rump off.

And you get to ride on the footpath.....front lawns.....people's gardens....lol.

I used to catch up with a couple posty's when I was on my way to work at Monroes, as a young fella, and watch these two nutters (rain hail or shine) line each other up from the lights up this really steep hill....lmao, it was freaking hillarious, and they were laughing their @$$es off the whole time. That beats the crud out of ANY part of my working day.

Hey, BTW, did you go down to Phillip Island for the WSBK? We reckon we saw you in Cowes one arvo.

LOL

Yeah..

I drunkenly flew down saturday morning after buying air tickets at 2 am.
I didnt plan it very well as I had to leave around midday sunday.
made it to the track for abotu 3 mins lol then had to leave (didnt even go in)

So yeah, I basically travelled 10 hours each way (bus n stuff) for a bbq with the bikeme ppl on the saturday night.

was it the mowhawk that gave it away???

Lol....that sounds like an expensive way to see bugger all racing! LOL! But i bet you had a decent laugh!

Yeah, you were deep in conversation when we saw you, but the Mohawk definitely gave it away!

fark man.

you should of come over and said hi!!!!

I did think this afterwards, but sorta thought we would see you again...aty the pub, or the track...as it turns out, you never got to the track, and we never went to the Cowes pub...too many breatho's to worry about having a drink, and riding 20km's back to our cabin!

Cops were hardcore this year...breatho's, defect stations, generally stalking bike riders...

:(

Yeah I thought the Police presence was abit extreme.
Heard reports they had a "border checkpoint" set up and were just defecting everything..

SO idiotic really, you would think when trying to promote an INTERNATIONAL motorcycle event, you would make it as motorcycle freindly as possible.

I meet up with two international guests on my travels. gordon and simon.

Gordon had been to 25+ isle of mans, been a mechanic for 10 of them, and raced in about 3..
He was also Cameron Donalds mechanic for a season. and had travelled the world following the motogp and wsbk. interesting fella.

The other, Simon, was an Italian who had 3 bikes, a mad Rossi fan and also had tales of wonder and motorcycling through Italian mountain ranges and Europe.

Well anyway, they both found it extrmely ODD that the F1 was advertised everywhere in Melbourne, but nothing at all for the WSBK's, and that the Police presence was off putting.

Sad..

Yep, on Friday night, Mikey and me decided we wanted to go to Cowes, and for us, this meant a ride into Cowes, as we were staying in a Caravan Park just as you come off the Bridge onto the Island...but we were warned of a Defect station being just up the road from the bridge, as you come onto the Island, and sure enough, it was there, stopping every single bike coming onto the Island...we turned around and went back, as we both have FE's, and i had my baffle's out of my pipes..and they surely would of nailed us...

Stupid really, cause our bikes are far from dangerous to other road users, but no, you cant have an FE, that might bring down the whole of civilisation!!!

And your right, very little media coverage, or advertising for the event, which i sorta dont mind, as at least the World Supers is a real biker event, not like the Moto GP, which has a large wanker factor!

And yes, PI is great for meeting people with awesome bike stories, or a cool gig...

Its a pretty good representation of Australian politics really.
Ie 99% of pollies are utter retards.

It was on the news the other night how the police are so busy wasting time on the roads with crap like this that they just simply don't turn up when there are armed robberies etc, or if they do its at such a late date that they may as well have just left their thumbs up their asses.
So apparently alot of station owners and small shop owners are saying they need to arm themselves because of the rising crime rate.

Lets be really honest here, people speeding - generally not dangerous unless they are doing other irresponsible things at the same time, ie drinking, drugs, or being hoons. That or just driving past their abilities, which sadly is pretty common even for people doing 40km/h these days with the pathetic testing that goes on. How many people can't even turn a fking corner these days without using two lanes, and taking 2.5 sets of light changes. Then they get angry when you beep them for being morons???

Meanwhile if you actually need the police to stop criminal activity or help you, you may as well become religious and hope god will step in on your behalf.
At least with the religious choice you can keep on with that whole faith thing, with the police you just know they are a total failure to society with the way they are being run at the moment.
We have a police station that is 2 minutes walk away. The general police response time when hoons are damaging vehicles or stumbling around drunk and disorderly (and fighting) - 2 hours.

Also anyone else notice they crack down on MOTORCYCLES, and yet we still have huge numbers of L-platers driving totally illegal cars. They definately set limits for both L's and P's for NSW and they are being totally ignored. (although they are retarded anyway).

All this aside when you hear the high up police commisioners talk you can practically see the **** dripping off them from recently being pulled out of a pollies ass.

Sadly most Australian's seem to be as retarded as the politicians, they are happy to see everyones rights and freedoms eroded as long as they don't initially see it affecting them, and it doesn't take much forsight to actually realise that it will very quickly.
Then after they have applauded all the minority groups who deserve a fair go getting proverbally raped up the ass again and again, they expect people to stand up for them when it finally gets to their turn.....
And this isn't even starting on the totally useless minority groups who are generally pushing for the total destruction of whichever group of people they have their sights set on for not having similar wishes to their own.
I mean seriously apparently there is a bicycle council or something that deals with those issues. How about they start educating the moron bicyclists that the rules of the road do apply to them, and that they deserved to be run over when running red lights, splitting traffic then holding EVERYONE UP and generally being utter morons.
There should be a road reward for seriously injuring a bicyclist doing something illegal.

When it gets to the point where even tourists are noticing the vast issues in our society you really have to wonder whats going on.
I mean I saw in the Rapid Magazine an article about the dangers of riding and how government figures are showing motorcyclists make up a larger portion of fatalities than they 'should' without a single mention of how road fatalities have actually been dropping despite a great increase in actual rider numbers. (saw this in another article from memory)
I actually wrote in with my take on the article, because I thought it was pretty biased, and never got a response.

Man you can type! This one sorta belongs in the rant thread!

Whilst i agree with your arguement, we must be careful not to "cop bash", myself included...but that was well written...thanks.

Now go and have a beer, or a choof!

The real problem here is that, petty crime, traffic offences are easy to police, and as such, easy to gain revenue from, hence the priorities of the people involved.

:(

Politics mate. Pure and simple. I don't know if the cops are fighting for what I'm sure they know is right, but I do know where most of the trouble is caused. Gov't. In our case here 1 do-gooder who can't drive is trying to get speeds dropped from 100 to 80. He admits that he can't handle a car at 100. He is a local politician.

Shouldn't that be an instant loss of licence. Don't let soeone who admits they are a danger to me on the road to keep trying to kill me.

If there is three roads from a to b he wants them all to be lowered. Why? Why don't they lower one and the incompetents can stick to that one? I reckon the death toll would be higher on those roads...lol.

I'll stop now before I rant...lol. (too late?):BLAA:
