My first thought was "Track-bike" too, but not an option by the looks.
Although, even if the closest track is a sh!thole, it's still a track, no obstacles, everyone going the same direction, and generally there is a medical presence there in case anything goes wrong. Great way to fine tune riding style???

Street Fighter sounds the go.

:)

OH SNAP! that to me is screaming STREETFIGHTER thats if you have the time and extra funds to throw at it.

Track bike.

There is no better learning tool than a bike you don't care about crashing.

TRACK BIKE WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Thats what I want soooooo BAD!!!!!!!!

Track bike track bike track bike track bike track bike Woooooooooo

I fyou ahev the time and money, that hting would make an awesome streetfighter!! then, if you need money or just don't want to hold onto it, sell it as a streetfighter for extra bucks.

Put an engine cage on it, change the sprockets and stunt on it! I would then again im 19, or just make it a street fighter.

At first I thought Streetfighter it.

Then I sat down, pondered a bit more, had a scratch, sipped a cold can, and then I thought Streetfighter it.

Then I had some food, did a couple of odd jobs, ironed the cat and fed my tee shirt and thought you should Streetfighter it.

Then I put on some chilled tunes, turned the lights down low, seduced a lithuanian refugee with the lure of free heroin and thought Streetfighter it.

After that, I voted.

Guess what I chose?

I dunno. Fix & Sell?

TRACK BIKE, TRACK BIKE, TRACK BIKE.

If you were in Western Australia, I'd probably buy it off you - looking for a track bike right now!

+1 on the track bike option. Lack of trailer and "too far away" are lame excuses indeed :BLAA:

FYI I bought a trailer for 2 bikes for $250 and a full piece suit for $390. You already have the big investment so I say "Track it!"

If that really is not an option and you are new to working on bikes - that's the perfect opportunity to learn (provided that you can afford both time and money).

If working on this bike will have no educational value whatsoever, I say sell it and use the money for something useful ... as someone else suggested, a couple of upgrades for the FZ perhaps. Frankly, if I were you and I already knew how to work on bikes and this project is not going to teach me anything new, I'd pass. If you're as green as I am - don't even think about selling and go fix her

That's just my $.02 :iconbeer:

It just seems really unlikely to me that the frame is bent....... Obviously there's a reason for you to think so, but it's not readily apparent from the pictures. If the forks didn't bend, why would the frame?

If the owner is telling you this, hem and haw, low ball them and buy the bike. That thing's more than a 600cc machine, right? Is it a ZX 7? I don't recall which models ran the air through the sides of the frame rails like that...... but I'd think it's at least a 750. The muffler volume is big enough to quell a liter bike....

Dump the gas, put fresh stuff in there with a bunch of carb cleaner in it, flush the brakes, flush the fork oil, and see where you are really at.......

A good motor and wheels.... you won't lose any money on it either way. It's probably worth at least as much in parts as it is in the whole.

As it's got a fubarred frame,I'm leaning towards breaking it.
Without that,I'd say fighter it for sure.

When you say 'bent' frame is it kinked or dented? a pal of mine sent his ZX down the road at 20 and they wrote it off, because he put a dent in the frame rather than bent anything.
Upshot is he got weighed out and bought the salvage back for next to bugger all.

He fightered his one......;)
