Last Saturday, I was invited to a dirt bike day out in the county, about 45 minutes or so south of where I live to "dirt bike day". This was my second time going. Basically, some recently made friends (by way of an old pal) clear a course on a farm & bring out mostly 100-125cc 4-stroke bikes and ride all day, cook out, & hang out. It's a family-friendly, fun day. Adults ride, kids ride (some better than most of us grown-ups), and everyone minds each other & tries keep safety in mind. The point is that it's a fun & unpretentious time.
One of the guys I met last weekend, who actually teaches the MSF ERC I'm planning to take in the spring, wrote an op-ed in the local paper that I thought summed it up nicely for some of us. McKenzie: Dirt-biking clears the mind of dirty politics | Daily Progress
Something nice to remember on a cool, overcast Monday.
