Weekend Riding >> Hwy 178

Hello, there.
Just weekend riding video to share with you.
Highway 178; from West to East Mojave Desert >> first time with Bike.
It's a really nice road for riding bike, and if you have any chance try it.
From easy canyon twisties to desert straight road for fun and some coutry back-road, not much traffic.
Fortunately, yesterday, there were no desert wind, so I enjoyed some high speed at there.

First thing that popped into my mind after watching part of the video was watch out for the "Rocks", especially going around those corners.

Yes, after winter rain here in caifornia, riders (both cage and bike) should be careful those rocks.

Hi, there.
In video, does not show all the beauties of the landscape,
however, actual sceneries are amaizing (by my standard of view ha ha ha).

Recently, I figured those emptiness of video clips after riding and videos didn't captured all the good sceneries.
So.....I'm looking for some cheap HD camcorder to get/capture surround of the road while I'm on the saddle.
Maybe mount at the Helmet so I can easily capture ???
Or, some servo motor to panning; under the camera???
Couldn't make mind yet...

As far as a cheap, helmet mountable camera goes... GoPro is releasing an HD version of their wide angle camera which should be pretty cool. Supposed to be out sometime in October for about $300.

(I swear they should pay me a commission for the marketing I'm doing for them, lol. -GoPro, if you're reading this, PM me to send me free things :thumbup

My camera is Olympus Tough 8000.
It has some digital stabilization function >> I think that it helps alot against bike vibration.
Big plus of this camera are >> Water Proof, Shock Proof, Crush Proof.

I met a person at the gas station during the nothern california touring,
and told him that my camera has this this functions...
Ha ha ha..
He told me that "Camera might survive when bike is down and the rider is gone..."
Just for the joke... ha ha ha

Yes, I'll and am considering those camera too.
Just one thing that I don't like with GoPro is that it's output looks some Fish-Eye angle.
Otherwise; as long as I watched some samples on youtube; it looks good candidate for my next investment... ha ha ha

I hear that. The 1080p mode won't be as wide as their current cam, but it's still pretty wide and I'm curious to see more samples too. Don't mind it too much for scenic stuff, but it is a little wide for everything else.

I've been curious about the Olympus Tough cameras ever since my digital Elph fell off the bike into traffic. It survived (kinda), but I'd rather not count on that next time.

In the front page, there are video about HD version, I couldn't stop looking at.
Looks promissing..
Really, the fish-eye perspective was removed alot compare to the previous version.

I know this road quite well, after living in Bakersfield for a year. My biggest complaint about the road was the irratic corner speeds the road allows and that cars/trucks are constantly cutting the corners over the yellow lines. Very dangerous there as you can see there is very little shoulder to use as an emergency lane.

I finally bought some cheap HD camcorder for bike-riding-video.
But I wonder if this new cam. could endure bike's high vibration,
as I saw lots of negative comments on the HD camcorder with vehichle mounting.
Anyway, I might have lots of trial-error for new mounting.. ha ha ha
