Hey guys, My friends and I had a ride to Tail of Dragon on Aug 1st weekend and Aug 15th weekend.
Please watch a few videos and share your comments/compliments on my existing videos and tips/tricks for my upcoming videos.
I've used Sony Az1vr and As100V and Gopro of my friend's who filmed me by following me.

We stayed in Kickstand Lodge, Robbiinsville, N.C, being a dry county, so bring your own beer if you don't like their choices.
They accept donation for beer and food (breakfast 5$ and dinner 10$, recommended). Bed is 22$ per night per head.
The lodge owners are so friendly, and offer nice hospitality and a fun place to stay there.
Dinner starts at 7.30 p.m., and breakfast, you can make your own for yourself, or you can do it for others too, including yourself, if you don't know how to cook, you can wait for others to cook ;)
After a long day, you can play some Horsheshoe game or Rope Golf ball game, have some bonfire, liquor(kind of free) with your new friends.
Too bad I'm a teetotaller.

Looks like you had a great time. Imagine having roads just like the Dragon but add a 10-15% grade, that's how many of the roads out west are like. We definitely have an up and down ride. Sometimes it's hilarious, you can actually see some of the riders as they get separated due to the pace, and you can see riders well ahead of you, or behind you going up or down the mountain. They could be three or four hair pin turns ahead or behind you, and you can see them.

I didn't like TOD on the first run/visit, I went back just because of Cherohala Skyway and Kickstand lodge, but for the Aug 15th trip, I went twice up and down taking a 15 mins break and that was wonderful. One more reason not liking TOD is that, we have the same roads here, a combo trip to:
Lake Lure via BRP ~ Devil's Whip ~ Little Switz ~ Diamond back with Old Us 18 road or US 181 road is a great run, which is like 1.5 hr form my house.
where as TOD is 3.5 hrs minimum on a highway trip and I need to take all the stuff like clothes for the night and cannot come back the same day.

I enjoyed the ride, I know I went damn slow, but that is my pace on unknown roads, or maybe I heard too many bad things about crashes on TOD.
I feel I did good on Monshiner road, but my formula of enjoyment is not speed (yet).

Nice ride out there. What's the history behind TOD? Watch some clips riders going up TOD for thrills.

Best to know the road before attempting the corners and hairpins to mentally prepare yourself for blindspots on potholes, incoming traffic & uneven surfaces unless you're confident with your gear.
