And for one of the few times in my life, I went cutting-edge:

Got the new 13" Macbook Air, even though it makes me look fat. Also got a Cysco E2000 router, and got it up and running and talking to my Air within an hour and a half (everyone told me the whole process would take about ten minutes, but I'm not real sharp on computer stuff...).
The screen is gorgeous, the Trackpad I'm liking so much I may replace the mouse on my iMac, but the "chiclet" keyboard is quite different to touch-type on, hopefully I'll get used to it.
The controversial feature on the Airs is... no internal hard drive; it's all flash memory. This makes it boot up within seconds, and enables it to be so thin. A bit pricey, but us Mac guys are used to that; cheaper than a Macbook Pro but a lot more useful (for me) than an iPad.
I'm stoked!

very cool. That's my dream. It costs $2200 in Russia, too expensive. I guess you spent about $1600...

after buying iPad, Apple becomes my favorite trade mark.

Congrats! The MacBook Air looks awesome! Enjoy.

I recently converted to Apple and bought a MacBook Pro 13" and love it. So many little things I like better than my Toshiba laptop.

That looks awesome.

I'm currently running a 17" MBP -- next summer-ish I want to get the 11" Air -- I don't really do much on my laptop, so don't need anything big or stupid powerful.

I'm sure that will work great for you. Very Nice. I still have never owned one and I really don't need one. I have a killer Dell desk top in my home office.. Great for photos and music. :D

That's about what the first-generation cost, mine was $1300. I went with the bigger screen because I do a lot of photo stuff, and it had an SD card reader which is also important for the camera stuff.

And after only two days, I love that chiclet keyboard, too!

The air doesn't have a disc drive.

I've used the disc drive on my laptop 3 times in the past 15 months - so I could get by without one.

It doesn't have an internal disk drive right? Did you get an external or don't you have a need?

It has a flash-storage device. The device has the similar functions as HDD, but faster than HDD. If you need to transfer data to another place, you can use external HDD or external flash drive, whatever you want.

I did get the external accessory drive, but the shop I bought it from already preloaded iLife and iWork on it for me, so I guess I can use it to watch movies...

You know that movie WALLE? IF...IF... apple were to make robots, they would be the white robot. and Walle, would be well Walle still.
