Vibration with new plugs??

Just put new iridium plugs in the bike. I didn't really notice any major change in power. I did find more vibration kicking in just over 4k RPM (the GF noticed it too however she liked it), than usual with the plugs (no other changes)... I almost put the old plugs (in great shape) back in...

It should be noted that I synced the throttle bodies abkout a year earlier and they were within 4mm. I re checked them and got them even closer at idle and at 4k (2-3mm, spec is 10mm) with a "Carbmate".

I figured while there, I'd check engine mounts, sub frame bolts, etc...

With a torque wrench I found two sub frame bolts not quite up to torque, several engine mounts also not quite up to torque. Maybe 5 lbs below spec's. re-torqued everthing, dead smooth way beyond 4k, smoothest the bike HAS EVER BEEN...

Needless to say, my boo, however should you have some vibration (not bad) check the basic's, it does make a BIG DIFFERENCE...

Bike runs better/smoother than ever with 10,000 miles on the clock..

For curiosity's sake, which subframe bolts weren't spec? I routinely check my main engine bolts (sliders), but rarely check others unless I notice something severe. Yet it seems like a lot of us have found some things loosened on the bike with age.

Just like my body, I guess.

The two upper bolts-torx head (has a 14MM head nut on the back side) to the sub-frame. The left side rear nut didn't move when re-tightening, the right side needed a wrench on the inner nut, kinda tight in there but an open wrench got it...

The lower left engine mount (allan head) was the loosest (no TOG's), the rear long bolt with nut was also low a couple of ft lbs..

Hmmm . . . That's a great observation that the plug change made the engine vibrate. Were the plugs the same design, old to New, same PN?

The bike had the original factory NGK's, 10,000 miles (were very clean). I replaced with the NGK Iridium replacement plug for the bike...

Maybe slightly more power, made the slightly loose bolts begin to vibrate, coincidence?

Dunno, but its super smooth now, just about no vibration (especially for an I4) and runs great...

Ok, watch this space!

Just this morning got my NGK iridiums through the post and will install tomorrow, then ride, then park up for a bolt check and another ride.
Will post the results over the weekend.

BTW - didn't think to check here before ordering the plugs! You know the syndrome_ you see, you like, you click, you pay.

Hope it wasn't false economy.
