First off since this is my first post let me introduce myself a little, my name is Jonathan, and I just bought my first motorcycle today, a 2008 Fz6. I also layed it down at a stop time for the first time today when I didn't think and tried to lean on just one foot. :( The only damage I noticed at first was a small scratch in the black plastic on the right hand side. But when I looked closer, the turn signal was also detached from the frame and is hanging kinda loosely. I currently have some tape holding it in place, and that seems to be working, but is there a way to permanently fix this without going back to the dealer to get the bike fixed the day after I bought it? I'm open to any ideas, and will try to get a picture posted sometime later today to help describe what I am talking about.

You probably just popped the plastic tab that holds the signal in place. Take a look at this link (bit #9 I believe):

http://www.600riders.com/forum/how-tos/15113-installing-flush-mounts.html

The rubber sleeve around the turn signal just wraps around a plastic tab that keeps the signals in position.

Might be a good opportunity to just buy some flush mount turn signals anyway (like allot of us have done already) unless you're not done dropping the bike ;)

front or rear directional? There is a black oval grommit that holds the directional to the mount (front or back). Is that just popped off or is the black steel bracket(again, ft or rear) busted off?

Wow, quick replies. It looks to me like the steel bracket that holds the whole unit is the part that busted, oh yea and its on the front side. Im pretty sure that is is safe enough to drive right now, as it's not gonna come lose without another good impact.

well.. i dunno.. i would think check that bracket, but i really dont know much on the new fz6 (i have an 05)... but not to worry.. others will be able to help you out.. good luck.. and worst case you have to go back to the dealer to have them look at it.. good luck man...

:welcome: Enjoy and Ride Safe!

Replace those monster signals with some flush mounts, then there is no need for the bracket and you will have completed your first mod, after all you have completed your first drop, by the way, most of us have dropped ours too, even have a thread on it, so don't feel to bad :D.

First, thanks for all the welcomes.

Can anyone recomend a good place to buy these flush mount turn signals?

For this, and other mods, you will want to refer to the Unofficial FZ6 Compatibilty Chart http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-mods/3438-unofficial-fz6-compatibility-chart.html

I put R1 Flushmounts, that I bought at my local cycle dealer, on my bike, e-bay has them and I'm sure that if you do an Internet Search for R1 flushmounts you will find many options at varying prices. Good luck

Pretty useful chart there, however if I am reading it right, it shows no turn signals that are compatible with the 2008 version of this bike. I can't believe that there would really be a difference, so maybe I am just reading the chart wrong?

No you are probably reading it right, remember it is an unofficial chart, and probably hasn't been updated. As far as I know, the '07+ signals are the same as the 04-06 with the exception of the retaining clamp that is used to keep them in place (which you won't need with flushmounts). You can see the differences and similarities in the diagrams here: http://www.600riders.com/forum/how-tos/15113-installing-flush-mounts.html

Just to let you know, I have a complete mint front Right hand (sitting on the bike) turn signal from my 05 FZ6 that I will send to you for just the cost of shipping (probably like 4-5 bucks) if it will fit your year. Just let me know. Sorry to hear you dropped it. The first scratches are the worst.
