Triumph vs Yamaha

since reading about the street triple r I have been in a permanent state of salivation, cruising by the Triumph dealer like a love struck puppy.

However, I am not working (still in school) and wont be till some unknown point after I graduate in the spring. As others have said this is a bike for the sheer love of it. And dont own it unless you can pay the taxes (the upkeep and insurance is what I mean), and have another vehicle ready for the downtime.

The bike has incredible reviews, I wish I could realistically be thinking about one.

I went to my local Yamaha, which just happens to be a Triumph dealer, to pick up some parts and they had one remaining '08 Daytona 675 in blue. The sales guys offered a deal on price, trade in on the FZ6, and 3.75% financing. I can't believe I had the self control to walk out with just my parts.

Oh yeah, the sound that triple makes is just fantastic.

Didn't get into too much detail, but sounds like he would have taken a grand off the price to start. So $8999 plus dealer fees and licensing. I would have offered $8500 OTD and asked for $4000 for trade in on the FZ.

I have a friend who used to work there and I know they're crazy slow, so who knows what the sales manager would have settled at. With the low APR and 72 mo. terms I could have easily had the payments the same as the FZ, just for 2-3 years longer .

I'll wait until I pay off the FZ then look for a nice used 675 and pay cash. I'm done financing anything right now.

I have had the opportunity to ride both bikes. I own a FZ6 and I have test driven a Street Triple. I have to say the FZ6 is a much more confidence inspiring bike. The triple is amazing but without fairings it's hard to ride especially if you're a bigger guy like me. If anything I might look into a Daytona triple it's got the fairings and the same motor and I think it looks incredible. But I have to say all previous writers are correct you must make your own mind up.
