Trade 2007 or newer FZ6 time for 05 SV650 Time

Hi,

I am new to this forum but pretty well established on the svrider.com forum.

Anyways. . I was wondering if anyone with a 2007 or newer FZ6 would like to trade some ride time with me.

I have a naked SV650, 2005 which is the most up to date generation (3rd generation) SV650 bike made.

It's in perfect shape and runs perfectly too.

I just want to see what its like to ride an FZ6 in doing research to maybe selling the SV and getting the FZ.

I am in south orange county, CA and basically I am thinking we meet up and go ride to a destination not too far away on each others bikes after doing a quick drivers license and insurance card and vehicle registration check up on each other.

I'm not sure if this a good idea or not, but I really would like to try out the 2nd generation FZ6.

Sorry I can't help as I am in Canada. But it is a coincidence... I just bought a yellow 2005 SV650 not 2 hours ago. It is parked right next to my 2007 FZ6. They are good bike and match up nicely to the FZ6. Hope you find some help a little closer to home.

That's actually incredibly cheap for rental bikes.

edit: unless you count the $2,500 deposit. You wreck it, you lose it, plus you gotta pay for the rest of the bike unless your insurance covers it.
That's how these rental companies make so much money.

How does the SV650 compare to the FZ6 ?

They match up well for power.
The FZ has a bit more top end and the gears are taller. mabye 5 Kmph
The SV has a smaller gears but feels like more torque.
I find I am changing gears a lot more when riding the SV.
The SV is a wheely machine and loves to pop it up.
The FZ is a tourer so the stance is further upright than the SV.

A friend and I have done some pretty fast and twisty riding on these bikes together and niether one was really pulling away. Though I felt at the time that I could have pushed the FZ harder.

When I first laid eyes on the SV I thought it was hideous but it did not take long to grow on me. My friend had to sell so I had to buy.

Lined up beside one at a set of lights today and it was on :thumbup: , he got me in 1st due to the torque but i reigned him in and spat him out by the time i was in the top end of 4th it was a case of thanks for coming :cheer:....Nothing beats a Fizzer....

Too bad you are in CA, as I have done this before. I figuire if you can ride to my residence on a shiny non crashed bike, have a valid endorsement and carry insurnace, and I ride along, nothing really bad is going to occur. I would think there would be some CA member here that would help you out.

Here's the SV650 Naked, 05 . . . Here in the winter months in California I freeze to death 'cause no fairing/windscreen. . . . I love the bike but that FZ fairing and dual under-the-tail exhaust. . . are very appealing.

I actually rode my SV650S for a year before buying the FZ. Everyone was all like "OMG your downgrading to a smaller bike". Yeah, they are all morons.

Now since yours is a naked, the differences won't be as noticeable, but I found the FZ to be much smoother at all rpm's. Highway riding on the SV and even in town I used to get numb hands and feet. Never on the FZ. For a passenger, the FZ is much better. FZ has better forks, better brakes, and in my opinion a better motor. Much more top end and about the same over all torque, just built differently.

If you have any questions between the 2, I can give you a full comparison, just pm me! (PS, rode both for about a year, 7000km on both. SV was yellow, called her Tweety)

I agree with you...You want to borrow it for an hour, not buy a part share in it.

Having said that, all bike rental is expensive.

I hope you find one to borrow.
