Any of you guys planning on doing any track days in the coming months?

I'm fairly new to riding and i'm quite keen on getting a track day under my belt (grouped session).

Brands is pretty close to me so i'll be looking into it.

i did a day of on-track training with hopp rider training last week at cadwell

was really fun, and was pushing myself to the limits by the end of the day, was a nice safe controlled event, though i wish we'd been allowed to overtake a bit more easily

planning on going to a proper track day as soon as a can, probably at oulten park, it's a lot of fun :D

also good for getting rid of the chicken strips

That sounds great.

None of my mates have bikes at the moment so I may wait till they are riding before I go on one.

How was the FZ6 on the track?

i went by myself, it was a good atmosphere, though it wasn;t a typical track day event

it was really good, i was in the novice group, and only struggled with the litre bikes on the straights, on the corners i was faster/more confident. Bike handled quite well, though probably isn't a knee down machine, pegs might have been scraping if the previous owner hadn't already worn them down :)

my bike is fairly stock, though i'm going to upgrade to braided hoses. Spent most of the time in 2nd and 3rd gear, with a bit of 4th on the straights.

it's well worth learning about what lines to take, etc. We followed instructors about to learn the track, and then had them follow us and give feedback.

the afternoon was a little wet, but i was still pushing my bike harder than i ever have on the road

i think it has the right amount of power to be a lot of fun. that said i am interested in getting a proper sports bike to track on

I am down for 20 minutes at Castle Combe on the 4th June following a Bikesafe assessed ride with Mr Plod

Fourth time I have done Bikesafe but first time on track- looking forward to it and watching track videos on youtube to try and get a bit of a feel for which way th track goes

normally the tracks have cones

at cadwell they had cones for where you should be

big yelow ones where the beginning of a turn, and where you should be
small orange ones indicated the apex, and where you should be hitting too

following the race line makes more sense the faster you go

I did a No Limits day at Cadwell this year. Went in the intermediate group and overtook a lot more than came past me, probably in the top ten of the group. Got blasted on the straights a few times but no glory in that. I had to be a bit rude to get past some of the faster bikes, stuffing it up the inside, or round the outside a few times, think I must have passed somebody at every corner except around the old hairpin and barn, not enough of a run up to get past them. I have Maxxis supersports on my FZ and they were fantastic on the track, stuck like glue and allowed silly lean angles, can't be bothered with all that hanging off stuff, just lean it in further. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Only ever done track days at Cadwell, Oulton and Donington, Cadwell by far the most interesting as you're so busy all lap. Donington is a bit like a motorway, Oulton is more interesting but cadders is the daddy.
