I have a 2007 fz6 (complete stock), i'm planning a trip to the Cabot Trail (Nova Scotia) in August. how do these bike handle long trips and what will i need or need to do to make it comfortably. round trip is about 4000km.
I did nearly 3K in a weekend couple of weeks ago, pretty good trip....
used a set of soft luggage, I would recommend a taller screen, or some
ear plugs, and I mean TALL, CalSci or Cee Bailey...a better seat might
be needed for you, stock seat is ok for me, a cramp buster or some sort
of throttle lock should be looked at 'cause the throttle return spring is
tough for long trips, I'm gonna install the SWMotech 1 in up 1 in back
bar riser kit soon...it's all personal preference and determined by rider
size/style....one thing I can recommend that's free: keep moving, change
seating/hand positions constantly, before you get sore and plan a short
break at least every 2 hours
CAH5150,
I too am planing the east coast ride. I'm slowly putting the bike together for the trip. Learned lots on a 1400km trip in 4 days on a 250.
So far I've got Givi bags and trunk, 24" Cee Bailey windshield on order, and a throttle rocker. The seat seems ok for 2-3 hours but for longer...don't know yet.
Might see you out there, leaving Toronto and going out there last week in July, first week in August.
