Thats why the holidays are so dangerous, all the idiots with 4wd's that they use to commute suddenly are out 'adventure' driving* with the family and they generally don't know how to drive and are consumate morons.
I mean they are almost as bad in the city but at least your going slower.

I was at a school zone this morning pulling out of a driveway, watching while literally a car every 5 seconds did an illegal u-turn in a school zone across unbroken double lines so they could go back the way they came. AFTER illegally double parking. It took me about 3 minutes to get out thanks to the morons!

I would have a 4WD if I could afford a new Landcruiser. Used to have one as a company car - really good. But then, I ride a bike so I'm automatically a better driver :BLAA:

I've driven with Cameron McConville, Jason Bargwanna, Steven Richards and Greg Murphy and beat A LOT OF MEN who thought women can't do anything.

Its definately the driver not the vehicle, and I don't think gender plays a large role in defining who is good or bad.

I hate the whole woman can't do certain jobs attitude, I mean at work I'm extremely happy to take out all the trash and do the heavy lifting rather than making any of the women I work with do it, but thats not because I think they can't or won't its just the way I was brought up. That being said there are some who I know prefer not to and some who give me a run for my money fighting over who does it! This being said I offer, I don't just try and take control.
Its quite interesting because you often see in a large workplace how peoples upbringings have shaped them.

Actually Kazza, you're not far off with the remark about being a bike rider, so you're automatically better. Generally speaking, people who do further education in driving (for example, bike licence, truck licence) are more on the ball, and more likely to be thinking about what they're doing than folk who just get their car licence and don't give it another thought.:thumbup:

My missus is not a bad driver...but she is at the same time....is safe enough out on the road, but when it comes to reversing, or parking....man, can she cause some carnage....every panel on her car, has a story, or 3 to tell! fortuneatly, its only been poles, verandah's, fences, etc, that have met with her driving "skill", no other cars as yet....

And she knows how to ride a bike! I get told all the time, that i drive my car like it is a bike...but that is only by people who drive cars only!

Yeah, my dad taught me to drive. He used to have Triumphs and Aeriels so he taught me to be "rider" aware when I drive. :thumbup:

Love the old Ariels...rode a 600cc 1949 single in the Bay to Birdwood, many many years ago....best part was, i help restore the thing!!!

I think everyone should have to start on a scooter/learner bike before getting a car license.
It makes everyone more aware of riders (not just the actual riders but family as well), teaches people much better road skills (or they die), and will definately prove who should be allowed a license and who shouldn't.
Would also help pollution, congestion and parking issues.

I think we should go one step further, and have folks commuting to work on bikes. I don't have a clue if Australia is unusual in this, but nearly every single car I see while commuting, contains one individual. They can't ALL be carrying large, important stuff around with them. These folks should be on two wheels.

It'll never work though, 'cause people sometimes need to shop while commuting, weather, and even vehicles being off the road forcing them to take the car. It'd be nice though.

Now, as we're waiting for the WSB to start, he's watching Bullitt with Steve McQueen. It's just for my benefit, apparently. He wants me to see one of the best car chases ever :shakehead:
