OK so I had the honour of riding a S1000RR today.. 194 BHP.. top speed so far measured at 324 km/h..
The weather was bad though, rain already made the roads plenty wet.. and when the test drive started it rained slightly.
It was a test ride with a small group, already told the guy I wanted a new test ride when the weather was better, by myself.
First bit was to the highway. That means max 120 km/h. I was nervous at first. 194bhp compared to the 98 of a FZ6 is a pretty big difference. So a slow start. following the guy infront of me I opened up the throttle a bit.
Reached 100km/h in first gear and shifted. Not just shifted, kept the throttle open and pressed the gear shifter to second. No need to use the clutch. the quickshifter system works flawlessly. smaller roads followed, too bad the guy infront of me seemed to fear the wet roads. I felt comfortable, even on unknown bike. Short twistie roads which felt slow due to the guy leading the pack followed. The bike felt great. Power everywhere, low rpms till 7000 rpm.
Finished with another bit of Highway. I let the guy leading us pull away from me. Then I opened the gass, it pulled like I was riding the fz6 in 10k rpm. went from 40 km/h to 150 in first gear like its normal, shifted, 200 k/h, slowed down and shifted up again since I caught up with the front rider. omg what an awesome bike. oh, not so special, but i LOVE the slipper clutch. My next bike MUST have one.
When I got back on the FZ6 to ride home, it felt like a kids bike. the way you sit and the complete lack of power compared to the S1000. Don't get me wrong, I love the Fz6 and still need to learn lots on properly handling a bike..
But that S1000RR was pure motor porn. Can't stop thinking about it, every second on that bike felt special, even the slow bits...
