Thanksgiving in the U.S.

As we're about 3 weeks away from Thanksgiving I thought it would be nice to share what we're thankful for.

Of course the important things like family and friend. All of my grandparents passed away several years ago so I pretty much have my parents, brother and his wife in California and my aunt and uncle in Grapevine, TX. That's about it for my family. I'll be 42 in a couple of weeks and as we grow older we seem to take less for granted and appreciate more of what he have and had.

Thankful to have my job, my two dogs, my health and of course my first motorcycle this year.

I'll be working on Thanksgiving this year (patrol deputy). It can be lonely in the patrol car at times and this is the time of year when depression is on the rise. I look at it as if I'm working then someone else can be with their family. I try to see the glass as half full instead of half empty.

You can say that again. I'll be 43 (I think) in December. I'm probably most thankful for having a job and being able to support my family when so many are having such a hard time.

Wow I have so much to be thankful for!
I'm thankful for that little node in my heart that receives a signal to beat.
I'm thankful for my awesome wife and friend.
I'm thankful for feeling like I have purpose even if I don't.
I'm thankful for an awesome family.
I'm thankful for that big twin that pushes me thru the turns all year round in SoCal.
I'm thankful for this great forum with friends I've never met and may never meet.

I am definitely thankful to have a job, but most importantly my life, because in mid april of this year my right lung collapsed. Basicly to make a long story short i had pneumonia, for about 6 months proir and didnt realize it. The pneumonia turned into some sort of super infection filled my right lung with fluid, and a massive ball of puss begin forming on the outside of my lung. I'm not the type of person who likes to go to the doctor so I didnt until it got to the point where I could hardly take 10 steps with out gasping for air. Turns out that the "ball of puss" had ruptured about a day before i decided to go to the er. So they rushed me into emergency surgery, 3 days in icu, 2 weeks in the hospital, and about a gallon of fluid drained from my right lung later, I decided that life is too short to go on with it without a bike. So I went on the prowl and found an awesome deal on the bike that I have now. So basically I'm thankful for my job my life and my bike.

For reals, Chevyfazer! Dang. I got pneumonia and a lung infection about 3 weeks ago after getting the flu. Like you I didn't go to the doctor right away. I rarely get sick and kept waiting for it to pass but it never did. I'm glad I didn't wait as long as you did. After the "Z pack" of antibiotics and a couple weeks later the fluid in my lungs is almost gone.

Honestly i didnt even know anything was wrong until about 2 months before it got real bad, and even then i just thought that i might have bruised a rib or something like that, any breathing problems i had i attributed to smoking so i just wrote it off....oh and by the way in the first pic the bottem right is my good lung (left) and the other the right pic is my bad one (right)

Good idea for a thread.

If I really think about it I have a lot to be thankful for that I sometimes take for granted...

1. A big family that all gets along, 3 sisters and 2 brothers I'll see for Christmas
2. An amazing wife who keeps me in check and is always there for me
3. A job that pays the bills and doesn't stress me out
4. A house. I was 31 before I could afford to buy it but this year I finally was able to buy a real single family home with a couple acres for the dogs/future kids to play
5. three vehicles that run and an FZ6!
6. No car/bike loan payments left to make.
7. Awesome mountain roads just 30 minutes to the west.
8. The best beaches on the east coast just 4 hours away (OBX)
9. The grace of God!
10. Living in a country where we are still (pretty much) free.
11. relatively few health problems, I had an irregular heart beat since I was 15 and when I was 28 it just dissappeared!
12. The ability and talent to work on all my own vehicles, do my own renovation projects on the house
13. for turkey and gravy! :BLAA:

I always like to play this song a bit around Thanksgiving...puts it into perspective. :thumbup:

Also, when I first saw the pics, I thought it was turkey. It was only after I read your comment when I became disgusted.

Im thankful that i was able to get off of work and drive home tho see my family, that the sun came out today so i could ride for the first time in months with my dad on Thanksgiving, and that i can eat a good meal for a change.

Had a blast yesterday making Pumpkin pies with my awesome wife.

We made them pretty much from scratch including the dough.
Going to my brother's and there will be no less than 30 family members and friends there.

I do have a lot to be thankful for.
