SW-Motoech Blaze Panniers Set

New to the forum and just bought my 06 FZ6 and really like it but I am looking to add some soft luggage. Really liked the look of the SW-motech blaze panniers system but they only make it for the 07-09 and I was wondering what the difference is between the 06 tail and the 07-09 tail. In other words will this fit my 06.

My understanding is it will not fit, but I'm not sure exactly why. I have an '06, and wanted the PLX cases and the SW Motech QR racks, but they are for the '07 and up FZ6 only.

The blaze system uses the bolts that hold the passenger foot peg assembly. IIRC on pre 07, the passenger pegs are welded and not bolted.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I am back to searching for some soft luggage that does not rub on the rear fairings.

If lockable waterproof storage is an option, I'd recommend it. The bike is a whole different type of machine with 72 liters of waterproof secure storage. Not quite a station wagon, but I can shoot through the mountains, then stop and run errands on the way home. Carry rain gear, tools, camping gear. Lock my safety gear up on the bike so I don't have to carry it. Some of these may depend on why you have a bike and where you live, but hard sidecases definitely enhance my FZ6 ownership experience.

Well I have thought about it but the $800 price tag was a bit or a deterrent and I have a couple friends with them and when I swung my leg over I kept kicking them. Maybe should reconsider, someone else has to have had this issue of the soft bags rubbing on the plastic

Can you buy the removable "metal" framing from this set without the matching saddlebags?

Yeah, there are four bolt-on parts (brackets) per side that are model-specific and come as a kit along with the plate that quick-release snaps onto them. The plate is available in Givi flavor, or the others, depending on your needs. The brackets might be order able separate. I lost one and they replaced it for $20. The whole kit runs a little over $200, so that plus cases gets into discretionary income territory. One of the main reasons I bought a bike was to do bike camping, so life without cases was never an option for me. I wanted hard cases so I could leave the safety gear secure and weather-proof and could travel a bit away from the bike if desired. But the whole setup was not cheap, and it's hard to find on sale. Somebody got a great deal on a set of E21s here a while back, but those wouldn't be quite big enough for me. Though I do often wish I had top-loaders. Twisted Throttle is the most informative site to look at, and if you call 'em they're real helpful. I called about the PLX SW Motech QR kit for the S1.
