So, a couple weeks ago I was riding and hit some ice and the back tire slid out from under me. Fortunately I was only going like 15 so I'm okay and my bike is okay as well. It fell on it's side, though, and slid for about 4 feet. I'm being optimistic, though, it could be a lot worse, right? Dang it!
Anyway, there were 5 issues resulting from this with the bike that I'm trying to fix:
1) Clutch handle was bent...ordered a new one, that's good...
2) Handlebar edge is scraped. I've filed it down and am going to put some black glossy paint on it and it will be good as new.
3) It scraped about 2 sq cm of my red plastic but I've got the paint to get that good as new.
----I may need some advice on these
4) The crank case cover is pretty scratched and might have a small crack in it. It's not dripping oil at all but I got some on my finger today when I was rubbing it, so that's not good. I haven't had time to check the oil level.
5) The starter motor must have gotten tweaked because when I start it there is a really high squealing sound that makes my neck hairs stand up.
So, for 4 I figure I can just drain the oil, order a new cover and put it on.
But for 5, does anyone know what would make a starter motor sound so weird? Would falling on it's left side damage the motor that easily or is it just displaced and would that be something I can fix?
Or, should I just bag all of this and take it to a dealer and have them look at it? The bike runs just fine, I was able to drive it home after it fell and I have ridden it a few times since.
Thanks in advance,
