Speedo problem?? Help please

I just picked up a 2005 FZ6. Went out for a ride on a road I know well, the speed is 55mph. I was running at 65mph and cars were passing me left and right. Not sure if my speedo is off or what. I've never been passed on this road so I'm thinking it may be off. I would love any feedback. Thanks

Start by looking at the sprockets. Stock is 16 front and 46 rear. If the previous owner changed the gearing the speedo will be off.

The speedometer is known to read 5-10% faster than actual speed on this bike.

It's also possible you switched to kilometers per hour. Switch the bike on, press and hold the select button for a few seconds to change back to miles per hour.

Checking the displayed speed against a GPS will give you the actual off set for your particular bike.

As posted above, even stock, the speedometer is off quite a bit.

A "Speedohealer" plugs into the harness and you can adjust the signals to bring your speedometer back to accurate. I have mine adjusted to about .3 MPH higher at about 60 MPH. It can also be easily removed and put on your next bike...
