Just some info to people who have done -1 in front....
My brother in law is a police officer... he works 12am to 8am.. which means i am hardly ever out when he is working, but i happened to be out on friday night when he was on duty so i got him to "pull me over" on the bike

It was about 1 am, so there were no cars to interfere. He stopped on the side, and i stayed steady at 50mph. He told me that he got 47mph. which means that i have about a 6% variance from mine to his. Not too bad when you think about it. I thought the -1 would add alot more, more like 15% difference or so. That means that after 10,600 miles on my odometer, i really only have 10,000. i can live with that for resale. I thought about getting a speedo healer, but after we did this, i dont think i really need one.

Anyone else have theirs checked?

By GPS, my speedo (w/ stock gearing, etc) reads 9% high.

I remember reading over on the other forum that speedo error is typically in the 5~10% error range, but that odometers are typically spot on. Haven't thought to verify the odo.

I think the variance will grow the faster you go...I would see if you could try it again going 65 or 70. That should give you something to give an average variance. But if your on the low side of the radar then that only gives you a "good side" cushion.

It's a proven fact that the faster you go, the more vairant you will get. The speedo is fairly accurate at slower speeds. I think this even holds true for anyone who has done a front or rear or both sprocket change.

Just hit the search button as this is a subject that has been beaten like a step child.
