So how hot is too hot?

I've never NOT ridden because it was too hot. I dunno, maybe 100? Yeah, a jacket is hot... Just drink lots of water! It only gets uncomfortable at stoplights.

Mesh jacket with a phase-change cooling vest lets me ride semi-comfortably into the low 100s. In the summer it will be 75-80ish during the morning commute, so I wear the vest uncooled under the jacket to block some wind. Pop it in the fridge for the workday, and it's ready to go for the hot ride home.

August in Louisiana is hellish. I ride anyway, but sometimes ATGATT goes out the window. I apologize profusely. Even the vented mesh jacket is a killer at 100+ degrees and 90 percent humidity. Still keep the full face lid though.
Prefer mid-60's to mid-70's. With gear.

If I choose not ride when it gets over 100 degrees, I wouldn't be riding for over 3 months, as we hit over 100 degrees over 100 days a year. 117 is the hottest I've ridden in, and I always wear full gear. Thats Helmet, safety glasses and visor, jacket, riding pants and riding boots even if it's a trip down the block to go to the store. I have no car. My bike is my only ride.

...up here in the frozen north, we never make 100. Well, maybe on a REALLY hot day in the summer, but generally it is about 68 to 86 all summer. Today it was 23. The question up here is more "how cold is too cold?"

I think it helps that I grew up in So Cal where we would get a heat wave in April and would last until October. I think I'm used to the heat and love it.

I have never stayed off the bike because it was too hot. Probably many days in summer here in No Cal in the 90's and a few in the 100's. It does help that we can lane split here and keep moving instead of sitting stuck in traffic. I think if I couldn't lane split, 90F would be my limit.

No, when it's that hot, I'm usually commuting from point A to Point B so the ride is usually under 20 minutes. During the summer I don't find an excuse to go ride, I ride because I have to.

We are allowed to lanesplit here. The hottest i've ever been was splitting a 4 lane highway on a summer afternoon.

It's the first and only time i had to pull over for bike to cool, the heat of the day, tarmac and all those over-heating engines created an oppressively hot and uncomfortable ride.

Only thing i find that helps, is loostening your gear, get some airflow down your neck and sleeves.
