Does anyone else skip gears while riding around town?

For in town rides, I've heard the FZ6 has enough power in the first 3 gears to keep you there; but I like to get to a higher gear for: a) less buzzier ride, b) possibly better mileage. But of late, I've found myself skipping gears, 1--> 3--> 5-->6. Sometimes, 1--> 2-->4--> 6. I do this only when I rev up high enough in the gear I'm currently at!

Just wondering if anyone else has this habit - or is this a bad habit of mine??

i skip gears when I downshift all the time, only because I keep the r's low for the same reasons you listed.. but upshifting i typically go through each gear..

I skip gears in all sorts of different riding scenarios, not just in town. The only place I don't skip gears is on the track. I do 1,2,4,6 and 1,2,3,6 a lot. Pretty much all of my twisty riding gets done in 3 through 6 with a whole lot of it in 6th.

Still running my bike in, so I'm not revving her hard enough to really skip gears. Downshifting I will though
Still working on getting my shifts to that perfect point when you know you changed right at the proper point though.

I often skip gears when starting from a stop light or navigating through heavy traffic. The gear I skip depends on the scneario, but most often it is either 2 or 3.

if i blast away at lights etc. i will go 1st,2nd then skip to 4th or 5th depending on road conditions.
general cruising it's every gear up and down.
